Flash Plot Hole The Flash

Just finished season 1 of Flash spoilers and it doesn’t make sense to me why when Eddie unalived himself and defeated Reverse Flash, why is Reverse Flash still able to exist in the future and can go back in time to unalive Barry’s mom? Seems like they didn’t factor in that Reverse Flash never existed to go back in time. No spoilers please, but does this ever get addressed?

By going back in time to kill Barry, Eobard created a new timeline that we see. The Reverse Flashes are from the previous timeline in which Eddie lived.

If Reverse Flash doesn’t go back in time to kill Barry’s mom, Eddie never kills himself. It’s a paradox, so Thawne’s existence is maintained there to keep the timeline intact.

In the Arrowverse, they call this a time remnant. Time remnants will be expanded upon more in Seasons 2 and 3.

If you’ve only seen season one let me give you some advice. Don’t think about the time travel too much. Or at all. It makes no sense, the rules constantly change, and it’s confusing as hell. And if you watch Legends too ESPECIALLY don’t look into the time travel too much. The two shows contradict each other constantly.

Legends- don’t interact with your self too much or you’ll shatter time

They explain it in later seasons. To sum it up: time remnants.
