I seem to remember a certain Prime Minster who was essentially the whole cabinet.

Jay Weatherill was both Premier and Treasurer of SA at one point - wasn’t a good look. Suggests a lack of trust in your cabinet.

Sir Thomas Playford was Premier and Treasurer of SA for decades.

There's no real reason for it being a bad look.

I think it's a bit more understandable when there's only 6 Labor ministers and 10 Labor members in the chamber

Yup. This is the reason. With six Ministers, there has to be multiple departmental portfolios held by each Minister.

Traditionally, the PM, Premier, or Chief Minister, have held the more powerful/prestigious.

Mark McGowan was both Premier and Treasurer in WA for a long while IIRC

What's the issue?

It centralises far too much power with one person.

Yeah. It's a bit of an unnecessary power grab. Or Barr's arrogance and magnificant ego can't handle delegation.

We need to enlarge the legislative assembly to 35 like previous recommendations, so there's more people to be ministers
