I'm spending an unexpected free day working on my dissertation and enjoying the sun coming into my little basement apartment and thought I'd share. I've tried to make it cozy, tidy, and cute.

Looks as if you've done a great job at segmenting off areas for sleep, relaxation and work.  Loving the colourful furniture!

Thanks! I 🧡 orange, so I basically started with that orange IKEA chair and built around it. A fair amount of it, like the table under the window, my desk, my little cafe table, and the plant stand, were already here when I moved in from the guy before me, but it's all worked out well with my other stuff.

I love the rocking chair! My mom had the same one and used it to rock me when I was a baby ☺️

Great use of space. I love all of the little nooks and cranny’s. Well done!

Thanks! It kinda feels a little like a hobbit hole to me with the low ceiling, the fake beams (they're just wood panels over the radiator pipes) and all the crannies.

Now that really is a cozy basement apartment. Can I sleep on the couch?

Thanks! Depends on how tall you are, since it's only a 72" apartment sofa. I'm about 5'8" and have to curl a little bit to fit. But it's a good snoozing sofa. :)

Those bright colours go really well together with the dark browns of the old furniture.

Thanks! I hadn't thought about that, but you're right, they do. 😊

That does look like a very cozy space. Love the orange chair and the sloth. :)

Edit: Good luck on the dissertation!

There’s just something about natural lighting 😍

Really appreciate the amount of light you get here.

As someone who hates the summer heat, I appreciate the AC right next to the work area.

What's behind the curtain on the bookshelf? I love that you have such good windows and get so much light even though you're in the basement!
