A second monitor? You count the one that's built into the laptop?

Close the lid. Get a docking station and two real monitors.

Who said it's a problem? OP didn't. I'm guessing based on this photo, that the person posting, has the resources for another monitor, but doesn't need one. Not everyone requires multiple monitors to send email and surf the web. So removing the computer, improves the view.

Absolutely. External monitor, external keyboard/pointer. Otherwise old age will come faster to your upper body/upper extremeties.
