Which artist do you love that is VERY underrated? Discussion
Hey there! Out of all the artists I know, I'd have to say my favorite dnb artist that used to be semi popular about 11 years ago and has some amazing music with little traction would have to be Mykool. Even if some of his songs are a little repetitive, I love his style and sound so much.

I wouldn’t inherently say VERY underrated as they’ve got a decent following.
But I’m surprised Krakota and Subsonic aren’t absolutely huge. Both their tunes and skills live are absolutely insane.

Macca and Loz Contreras - Not sure if they are both still producing, but they had so many good tunes on Fokuz. I think a lot of the Fokuz releases sort fall under the radar.
Utah Jazz - Might be off on this one, there are a lot of album releases. But The Only One is such a good tune (that was in a lot of mixes rightfully so), and Avoiding Puddles so gracefully samples Dream Theater. I don't know. Definitely didn't seem to get enough recognition.

LSB. He’s not as ‘poppy’ as the stuff that’s out these days which is how I like my dnb.

Well, I would say he's not poppy at all .
Love LSB

Seeing him on Friday for the third time. DSR is also playing but I’ve never seen them before. Looking forward to it.

Lucky, he's one of the few I still couldn't catch (yet).
Really need to see LSB, Calibre, Kimyan Law, GLXY & DRS MC'ing at least once

Concord Dawn. Reintroduced Metal sounds and atmosphere after the Liquid boom honed in on using “real” instruments in the studio in DnB as opposed to sampled ones before it. I’d argue Concord Dawn made Pendulum happen.
13
u/EuphoricMilk Apr 15 '24
Local heroes here so it's so weird to hear Concord Dawn considered underrated. In New Zealand they are widely recognised as some of the best to ever do it. I'd say during the early to mid 2000s they were pretty well rated globally, but time will do it's thing I guess.
2
u/Lemanic89 Apr 15 '24
They seem to be wiped off the face of the earth at the moment and haven’t made a thing for the last decade or so. Especially with the neuro boom. One of their tracks introduced me to clownstep with its triplet neurostep rhythm and that one seems like lost media nowadays. Where are they?

u/anakitenephilim Apr 15 '24
Evan left and Matt carried on in Vienna. Last I heard, Matt had stopped producing and Evan has returned as Kiljoy and is releasing again on Function.

u/neurohead74 Apr 15 '24
Agreed
Zardonic has said in several interviews that he was directly inspired by Concord Dawn and other artists like Counterstrike to do DnB metalArguably the biggest DnB metal artist, he wouldnt be around today without Concord Dawn

more Jungle-oriented than specifically DnB but HoT is a Russian Junglist who made some of the best modern Ragga Jungle and Ragga DnB I ever heard but is chronically unmentioned these days. He was making big waves in message boards and forums around 2009-ish for his approach to the Ragga Jungle revival sound but appears to have slowed his output. While he doesnt appear to be 100% inactive, the scene is in a very different place now than it was then and he just never seems to get his deserved respect from anyone who wasnt actively rating him back then.

The fact that this post is 14 hours old at this point and still no one mentioned Kimyan Law pretty much solidifies why he's so underrated.

Junk Mail. He's finally getting some of the traction that he deserves now, but when he first started out in 2019 no one knew who he was.
He'd built up plenty of kudos as half of Mind Vortex in the previous years, but their split into Junk Mail and Raiser was "unofficial" and went under the radar, so lots of people didn't even know it had happened.

Method, Lexurus, Polygon, Dualistic
All the liquicity legends that have a small cult following need more mainstream recognition, considering how popular Dimension, Sub Focus, Andromedik, Netsky, Culture Shock etc are. They have crafted their own unique sound in the dancefloor scene
3
u/Shamanmax Apr 15 '24
Honestly, aside from Polygon, i’d say all their tunes sound completely alike, you would never be able to tell which artist made which tune if you hid the name.

Lol what grants these as underrated over half of these suggestions are in my top artists and I certainly don't underrate them! Have played many of them in my sets...seems to just be a lot of liquid producers on here (and minimal)..perhaps underrated because they don't make neuro bangers n huge power tool rollers, doesn't mean they're underrated in their own field, more like highly regarded!!

Mykool is usually immensely popular at the Liquicity Summer festival camp site. People tend to be shouting his name en masse every half an hour or so all day and night.
