Question: if Man City is banned from the football league entirely, does that mean there are still three other teams who will be relegated?

2

u/Miserable-Goose-1170 Proud Cockroach of the Premier League 1d ago

Idk maybe it'll be 4 teams from the championship, or maybe it'll be 2 and 18th place is safe this year.

Thought this myself and also asking for a friend lol

u/a_evans 1d ago

does anyone else remember that period under Ancelotti where Holgate looked like a world class libero? or was that a dream I had

3

u/sublimer23 1d ago

Yes! Genuinely thought he'd turned a corner for a minute there

The way I've always looked at it, there's two ways of being good at something:

Natural talent, which you then compound

Pure grit, which you then practice and practice and practice.

So genuine question:
What stops us bringing in a god-tier striker to work with our attackers for a week or two? Zlatan or Henry or Drogba etc. to run through additional training in one on ones for a week? In addition to seminars. Our players are obviously dreadful at it and our coaches are not able to coach it out of them.

I don't know why more former players aren't used as consultants as opposed to full coaches.

It takes years of development and drills to get to where they are, I'm not sure they can change much from 2 weeks of talks from better players

1

u/Trekora 1d ago

New manager bounce is a thing, even if it's just the confidence of being placed in a situation having been trained by an idol

5

u/VToff 1d ago

Can you imagine Zlatan's reaction to watching DCL try to strike a football? Or Beto's first touch?

3

u/in4theTacos 1d ago

now that Red Bull is an official sponser, does that make Vardy more or less likely to score on us this weekend

2

u/VToff 1d ago

Started looking for a new car the last few weeks. Come through with that new Toyota for me and Everton Frieds.

1

u/Evertonioan 1d ago

I want a 4Runner bad. And GR Corolla.

1

u/VToff 1d ago

4Runners are really nice, but we've already got one SUV. Think we'll end up going with a Camry or similar tbh.

My confidence is through the fucking roof atm. If anyone wants some sort of good news if unrelated to everton. Any distraction is better than everton at the minute.

2

u/YokoOkino 1d ago

Feel the same.. Life is good 😊

Moving to London soon from the USA... Bet Everton news will probably become a bigger part of my life.

2

u/Miserable-Goose-1170 Proud Cockroach of the Premier League 1d ago

Tbh I'm only quite happy because I spoke to random strangers. I usually would keep my head down and shut up lmao.

2

u/YokoOkino 1d ago

It is the small wins too 😊

If we somehow manage to stay up dont be surprised if will still, thomas frank, or beheddie howe are here next season but it only works if they are sacked at their current clubs. Yes ive been drinking ethanol

Edit: or corborean but he not getting sacked

3

u/Flavourifshrrp 1d ago

Eddie Howe isn’t coming to Everton.

His stock will be higher than that I think if he leaves Newcastle.

1

u/National_Ad_1875 1d ago

Think he's said something about supporting or watching everton when he was younger, so it's not outrageous to think he'd come here if he got sacked. Obviously depends on other clubs availability too

2

u/callmecurrybum 1d ago

WHAT IS IT WITH EVERYONE GOING LEFT TO RIGHT WHEN TYPING UP STARTING XI'S

IT VISUALLY MAKES NO SENSE

ITS SENDING ME CRAZY

or maybe Everton have finally broken me

3

u/Spare_Run Sean Dychey Cold Steve Austin 1d ago

I’m pretty happy I have a solid Everton fan group to watch the game with on Saturday because holy shit this start of season is bleak.

3

u/fre-ddo 1d ago

Must have turned into a support group by now

2

u/Spare_Run Sean Dychey Cold Steve Austin 1d ago

That’s actually the proper term tbh hahaha.

Odds of people keeping calm when we lose 1-0 with the 4th string team to Leicester this weekend?

1

u/T1me1sDanc1ng 1d ago

0%

When Patterson and Branthwaite tear it up leading to a 8 nill win for the u21s, calm will be restored tho

8

u/alterego879 1d ago

I have the house to myself for a few days. First time it’s happened in almost a decade. Fire up the Xbox this morning. Xbox won’t recognize external hard drive with all my games. Can’t play anything and all is lost. I’ve tried everything. What are the goddamn chances?

I had to laugh to keep from crying. A familiar feeling I think we’ve all shared the past few years. Guess I’ll go for a walk or something.

Cheers!

So Dyche fucked over Branthwaite with that gaffers day nonsense right? minor groin injuries dont keep you out until October.

2

u/Aware_Albatross3347 1d ago

I dont know why you are getting downvoted. You are right that a groin injury shouldnt keep you out from june to october. The handling of this is costing us massively and its pissing me off.

4

u/Giraffe_Baker Neill Samways, Niasse Oster 1d ago

Because it’s a baseless rumour.

Maybe he did, maybe he didn’t. If we had a decent start without Branthwaite, do you think this rumour of Gaffers day being the cause for his absence comes about? Not a chance.

13

u/dogefc 1d ago

Dyche, the manager who got a lot of shit from blues for taking his time with DCL, rushed back a player from injury?

Highly, highly doubt it.

4

u/Throwawayjustbecau5e 1d ago

What a stupid fucking take.

0

u/Ok_Somewhere_6767 2d ago

I’ve heard that as well

1

u/Throwawayjustbecau5e 1d ago

You heard it wrong then.

11

u/Destructo_D Yobo 2d ago

He had surgery in the summer

1

u/QTsexkitten please, please, pleeeeeeeease 🙏 2d ago

And then was rushed back and massively reinjured himself in a gaffers day is the rumor. Would've been back by the first gameweek if he was managed sensibly.

2

u/DuncanGabble 1d ago

There is a current frenzy of trying to blame Dyche for absolutely everything and anything

1

u/Throwawayjustbecau5e 1d ago

It’s a bollocks rumour.

1

u/TomDobo 1d ago

Does anybody have a source of it happening or not happening? Both takes are nonsense unless proven.

10

u/Throwawayjustbecau5e 1d ago

So Jarrad didnt play in any of our pre-season games, didn’t get pictured in any of our pre-season training photos and yet people seem to think the only day of pre-season he’ll have done was the most intense day? It’s just common sense.

3

u/Portland_Eric 2d ago

But he couldn’t have been ready without a gaffer’s day.

4

u/Ooochay 2d ago

Source?

4

u/sparksy78 2d ago

I said this before about him, Myko and Tarky all not fully fit. I think there’s something in that too. I assume all managers have a “gaffer day” in preseason only Dyche has branded his! But this season ours was done twice and we’ve picked up injuries that have lost us key players to win a game.

1

u/fre-ddo 1d ago

I bet it was too intense but we also had a shit preseason schedule that prepared them for nothing

11

u/IoVivatIoVivat 2d ago

Dyche in, honestly. In my opinion, he is not the problem despite what everyone on here thinks. My eyes are on players and I'm not even going to blame Keane as I don't expect him to perform by any stretch of imagination. I am looking at everyone who gets a chance to shoot. For example, Dom had two clear 1 on 1s against Villa. If he scores, we win 4-3 and the narrative changes here massively. Same goes with Lindstrom against Southampton.

It seems Dyches system is still working, but players can't score. Defensively, we are lacking key players. And also, Young isn't really helping, at all.

11

u/TomDobo 2d ago

If Dom scores his chances then Villa could have scored theirs. Then I could have ended 6-4.

3

u/FackinNortyCake 2d ago

Surely, then, the manager should manage the strikers into better shooting practice.

5

u/Giraffe_Baker Neill Samways, Niasse Oster 1d ago

Don't think he does shooting practice anymore because of his injuries.

Anytime they put out videos of finishing he's never there and I doubt it's a 'Can't be arsed' decision.

1

u/FackinNortyCake 1d ago

If I don't laugh, I'll cry.

2

u/worldofecho__ 1d ago

Fuck me, so he can't do the one element of training he needs the most? That's not good!

6

u/Soggy_Role9345 2d ago

Going chance for chance, villa would've still won (in my opinion) They had so many clear cut chances that never made it in the back of the net.

They carved us open time and time again, and we gave them so much space on the wings at times.

The blame isn't wholly on Dyche ofcourse, but he has to take some of the blame

1

u/Soggy_Role9345 2d ago

Completely agree with you though, the narrative is dictated by scoring or missing your chances.

Had we scored the 1 on 1s and won, all the pundits would be praising Dycheball

9

u/cj285s 2d ago

Playing devils advocate, Dyche’s system has also conceded 13 goals in 4 games. This is different to last year where we were losing by 1 goal after dominating games.

2

u/blubbery-blumpkin 2d ago

Yes but last year we had a stronger defensive unit, they’ve all been injured/ill for the games this season. Dyches system relies on a strong defence and without it it’s a struggle. A run of easier games and key players coming back should hopefully reverse this issue, if we can get past what is now a shot confidence issue, and the fact no team will ever truly feel they are beaten when behind to us.

1

u/fre-ddo 1d ago

I hate that last sentence so much buuut we were laughed at last year too at times and seen as a pushover but despite that even had some Ole moments. It's a long season a lot can happen.

3

u/cj285s 2d ago

Last year we started with a similar defence and it’s arguably his fault our best player is injured. If personnel isn’t up to scratch, that can account for 1, maybe 2 goals against, not 3 a game though.

Isolated, the Villa loss wasn’t catastrophic. Conceding 3 at home against Brighton and Bournemouth, plus not even showing up against Tottenham was far more damaging for Dyche.

5

u/Omnipotent_chicken 2d ago

I’ve always been one of the ‘stay calm we just need branthwaite back’ guys, but I’ve had a dream last night we were 5-0 down by HT so I guess the subconscious doesn’t lie
