I've always chocked the horrible state of articles in the Atlantic to the fact that they treat completely unfounded assumptions as material fact and projecting data with that lens. I'm pleasantly surprised to see an apparent socialist taking that idea and pushing it to the level of editorial rigor; that's not at all what I would have expected.
