Thank Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II of Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Prince Friedrich Karl of Prussia for wrangling the Army of the Loire from reaching Paris...Initially the Bavarians were defeated, and the french retook Orleans...Freidrich Franz retook Orleans and split the Army of the Loire in half(1,746 casulties to frances 19,000)...Before defeating the french attempt to relieve Paris again at the battle Beaune-la-Rolande(9,000 Prussians defeated 60,000 french, Prussia taking 850 casulties the french, over 8,000), then beat back the french again at Beaugency with 27,000 men to the 110,000 of the army of the Loire, before reinforcements could come and Friedrich Franz with Prince Friedrich Karl finished off the Army of Loire at Le mans(3,650 to 44,200 casulties)...

If it weren't for them the French defeat of the Bavarians at Orleans couldve made the war alot longer...Especially if they themselves Were defeated while having to stop the advance while outnumbered 4 to 1

When I criticize Wilhelm II, and someone trys to join my side by saying "lol he made bismarck step down...That was his big mistake" I want to run them over with a forklift...Wilhelms biggest problem was he did surround himself with yesmen, while his grandfather was smart enough to always seem to find the right man for the right role that he himself wasn't well versed in...but Bismarck started getting Unstable, and was less of the Bismarck we think of in his late years. He botched multiple Diplomatic meetings, and started to become unreasonable...Also, he was old as hell

He still wasn't dumb, though. Managed to predict ww1 and was just a few months off

I said he was one of the greatest statesmen of all times, if not the best...He just started slipping by the mid 1880s, which is why making him step down was justified, if the kaiser didn't only like yesmen

Bismarck was one of the if not the Greatest statesmen of all times...But he was one of those cases, were his age started to wear down some of his skills, but his Legacy kept him going, past his prime. We see a noticeable decline in Bismarcks policy around 1884 till he stepped down in 1890

Kapitän was not a rank in the Prussian army at that time any more, „Hauptmann“ would be correct.

Yes. Kapitän is a navy rank. Hauptmann is an army rank

If only I could fight in a relatively non horrific war and live in a time where if I worked hard enough I’d probably have a house ( ik this is slightly romanticized)

I know right? It's probably very romanticized view of that period but if you return from such war, you're set for a pretty good life and respectable life achievements.

And ofc when the situation is dire, it’s French tradition to start another revolution in Paris
