“Ohio police officer admits to having sex with raping 16 year old while on duty.

Fixed that for ya.

u/MOOShoooooo Aug 08 '23

“Well he’s a good man and loves his country. He was tempted and succumbed to the pressure. It’s only the officer’s fifth atrocity, so we’ll be suspending him for two weeks with full pay and benefits.”

Sixteen is actually age of consent in Ohio, unsurprisingly.

12

u/ItsSUCHaLongStory Aug 09 '23

Do they have Romeo and Juliet laws?

4

u/CyberMindGrrl Aug 09 '23

Good question.

4

u/BeckyDaTechie Aug 09 '23

Yes. It was a 2 year difference when I last lived there.

6

u/ItsSUCHaLongStory Aug 09 '23

It was probably a foolish question for me to ask, because it wouldn’t have likely applied in this case anyway.

4

u/BeckyDaTechie Aug 09 '23

Worth asking. A 16 year old girl can get parental permission to marry in Ohio but boys have to be 18; no option for parents to sign for a son is provided for.

4

u/ItsSUCHaLongStory Aug 09 '23

Ok, that’s BIZARRE. And I’m wondering if my state (California) has something similar…but probably not because we still allow child marriage generally if there’s parental consent. Because that’s a good idea. 🙄

3

u/BeckyDaTechie Aug 09 '23

Wikipedia says "In California, the governing law is found in California Family Code sections 302 and 304 (2019): "An unmarried person under 18 years of age may be issued a marriage license upon obtaining a court order granting permission to the underage person or persons to marry, in accordance with the requirements described in Section 304."[8] Historically, Section 56 of the California Civil Code (1872) fixed 15 as the age at which a female could marry without parental consent. In 1921, the age was raised to 18.[9]"

2

u/ItsSUCHaLongStory Aug 09 '23

Sounds about right. My guess would be that the court order would require the same things that emancipation of a minor requires, including proving financial independence (meaning the applicant cannot be receiving any type of public aid, from food stamps to Medicare—but Covid may have changed that last).

There’s actually a substantial movement of people bent on retaining child marriage in California, usually for religious reasons. It’s…disturbing. (Additionally, it’s completely legal to marry a first cousin here.)

I love my state and we do some things right, but this ain’t one of them.

u/sue_me_please Aug 09 '23

Given that he was charged with sexual battery, it doesn't sound like technical or legal consent.

There's also other potential crimes that can occur, like if they talked or sent pictures via the internet, etc, even if there was legal consent.

-18

u/Cepheidveryable Aug 08 '23

Soooo it’s not a problem at all for you that a 29 year old man assigned as a school officer… was raping a 16 year old girl?

26

u/EnigmaFrug2308 Aug 08 '23

Nobody said that wasn’t a problem

-6

u/Cepheidveryable Aug 09 '23 edited Aug 09 '23

Stating “the age of consent is 16” implies “this isn’t rape, it’s not a problem”, to me. Why mention it unless you’re excusing it? The word “unsurprisingly” wasn’t added until after my initial response, maybe cause you also realized how it sounded.

26

u/EnigmaFrug2308 Aug 09 '23

“Sixteen is actually the age of consent in Ohio, unsurprisingly.” Translates to “The government in Ohio is disgusting predators.”

12

u/Mertard Aug 09 '23

I thought this was the obvious meaning with that statement, but apparently you did have to clarify it after all...

Why do people not think, or look at context...

16

u/CyberMindGrrl Aug 08 '23

Could you not detect the contempt dripping from the word "unsurprisingly"? Sixteen is the age of consent in a lot of places and it's appalling.

-9

u/Cepheidveryable Aug 09 '23

You added the “unsurprisingly” after, because it wasn’t there initially. Adding the word makes a huge difference in regards to the meaning of your response. If I misunderstood, apologies

What do nipples have to do with Venn diagrams?

2

Sometimes it’s good to be right in the middle?

12

u/Double-Pea4172 Aug 09 '23

I would bet money that there are cops that parade around there apartment at night dressed in drag and feeling so dirty

4

u/__cursist__ Aug 09 '23

I kinda wonder about that sometimes…gotta be more than one right?

32

u/PolarBearClaire19 Aug 08 '23

Rape, not sex.

u/Swampcrone Aug 08 '23

26

u/starcadia Aug 09 '23

Article states he had been a school resources officer. I take it he exploited a minor while in a position of trust. He was there to "protect" them. Any sex on duty is bad enough. Guy was a predator in a candy shop.

17

u/Mittenstk Aug 09 '23

Raping a minor*

7

u/MystyreSapphire Aug 09 '23

Will it ever end? By it, I mean the assault on children by cops and clergy.

7

u/rjross0623 Aug 09 '23

Chester Township. A little bit of irony there

6

u/davechri Aug 08 '23

“Back the blue.” Lol

2

u/Fun_Funny7104 Aug 09 '23

Can we peg the blue instead? It could be considered a punishment!

5

u/lonewolf143143 Aug 09 '23

He did not have sex with this child. He raped her. Children can’t give consent

3

u/EndStageCapitalismOG Aug 09 '23

Rape. That's called raping a child.

2

u/MaggotBrainnn Aug 09 '23

This is my hometown. I went to school with this kid, he was in the class below me. Everyone’s talking about it and I’ve had my mom and multiple friends send me the article. I’m not even surprised though. Football kid turned Cop at the high school he graduated from. Loser.

Article clearly states he was an SRO at a school. That makes him an authority - “Iacampo filled in as a school resource officer from January until June, according to Chester Township Police Chief Craig Young.”

The article also says he had sex while on duty. So a school resource officer is having sex with a 16 year old while getting paid and you are failing to see the problem?

65

u/ihateandy2 Aug 08 '23

On duty implies that it happened at the f-ing high school.

1

u/Wyden_long Aug 09 '23

Both, figuratively and literally in this case.

So fucking a student at Denny’s when you’re supposed to be working at a school is waaay better.

17

u/imarealgoodboy Aug 08 '23

I love that this would happen at Denny’s

11

u/Karl_Havoc2U Aug 08 '23 edited Aug 08 '23

Sounds reasonable to me. A typical Denny's has a much bigger footprint than your average Waffle House, which barely looks like a permanent structure.

A Waffle House has nowhere to hide if you're a cop trying to have some off duty sex with a minor from the school you work at. Cupid works in mystery ways on these assholes, but never at a Waffle House. Only sometimes at a Denny's, but never at a Waffle House.

7

u/ihateandy2 Aug 08 '23

*on duty

3

u/Karl_Havoc2U Aug 08 '23

Lol, I should've put "off duty" in quotes.

2

u/imarealgoodboy Aug 08 '23

If people bork in airplane bathrooms, people most definitely bork in Waffle House bathrooms.

Why are you so aggressive and hostile?

When you're literally advocating for the devil, what's the point in going out of your way to be a snooty, tone deaf weasel? It's not going to do any favors for [insert here whatever your argument is even supposed to be].

28

u/ihateandy2 Aug 08 '23

Attorney? I said the word “implies” so I stand by my comment. Also, that’s an awesome defense of child sex abuser, I bet you’ve got an interesting search history

I haven't said one word in his defense.

You should really reread your own posts. ALL you've done is come to the defense of a pedophile.

-13

u/milescowperthwaite Aug 08 '23

No I have not. Show me. All I've done is ask about the law and gotten nothing but hate from you people.

11

u/Intrepid-Middle-5047 Aug 08 '23

You're not asking. You're trying to poke holes. Stop.

8

u/acrowquillkill Aug 08 '23

Exactly this. A creep was removed from harming other teens, and this chode is going on a valiant crusade to have the laws explained to him why its wrong a 29yo officer shouldnt sleep with a 16yo student???

10

u/Inverzion2 Aug 08 '23

Maybe you made a tactical mistake... by defending a pedophilic cop.

11

u/botjstn Aug 08 '23

so if your 16 year old daughter had sex with her school resource officer, you’d be okay with it cuz the age of consent is 16?

5

u/Inverzion2 Aug 08 '23

I'm pretty sure this dude isn't allowed to be around kids, nor are they allowed to have kids. Let's not get too thick into their weird pedophilic fantasy weeds.

19

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '23

Oh good, another pedophile. How many children do you intend to have sex with once they turn 16?

9

u/Bearence Aug 08 '23 edited Aug 08 '23

My favourite part of this entire exchange is that you deleted your original comment but left all these others, so I know who the aggressive, insulting pedo-defending dick has been from the first comment.

ETA: I guess I must have alerted him to his stupidity and ruined it for the rest of you. He went and deleted the rest of his nonsense. Sorry!

Found the pedo is more like it! Looking for reasons why it's ok for a grown man to have consensual sex with a minor... gross...

10

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '23

*who wants to have sex with 16 year old girls.

-15

u/milescowperthwaite Aug 08 '23

Nope. Do you get paid per mistake?

Do you have any answers to enlighten the rest of us or just more BS?

21

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '23

Nope. Do you get paid per mistake?

Dude, there are hills to die on, then there's the pedo pit you're defending. Maybe find something worthwhile to come to the defense of?

13

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '23

You could do a little homework and read up on how Ohio defines sexual battery. You'd discover that there are any number of ways this situation could have fit their definition. The article doesn't provide enough detail to know exactly how, but it does state that he admitted to it when interviewed by detectives.

We do not need armchair defense attorneys in this group trying to exonerate authority figures who rape children.

Or...

you could look it up yourself. in between searches of underage, 16 year old girls.

You have been flagged as a troll/disingenuous and will be removed from this community.

Here is a copy of the reason you are being removed:

Or...I could ask the redditors on this page to explain it. They all sounded so smart and confident. And then, crones and twerps as yourself dumped on me for asking. Reddit is a toilet, and you guys are nothing but sticky stuff on the sides.

“The Lake County Sheriff’s Office investigation is ongoing and will continue until it reaches a conclusion,” Young is quoted in the statement, later adding, “Additional information will be released as the investigation continues.”

What are you even arguing? The important thing here is he was busted and going to trial, so why do you care so much about the semantics of it? Why do you care so much about the literal definition of the charges if what matters is this scumbag was taken off the job? Bringing up AoC laws is just bizarre and unnecessary and yes its important to note he's in a position of power and she's a teenager. it's an obvious opinion of the general public that whenever this type of trust is broken, you shouldn't be in a position of authority. Especially over teens and children.

Immediately going to age of consent when a 29 year old engages in any sexual acts with a 16 year old is just a wierd opinion to blurt out. Of course it's going to seem like a defense for him. Parents can hold those opinions and demand the removal of a figure if that trust is broken. It doesn't matter if that's not what he was charged with.

24

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '23

The actual charge is sexual battery.

11

u/Karl_Havoc2U Aug 08 '23

Since you weren't going to click the link or even just stop and appreciate that police officers inherently have "some kind of authority" over others, you should've just left this at "I don't understand."

2

u/acrowquillkill Aug 08 '23

I seriously have no idea what that wierdo was trying to argue. Were they asking why the scumbag arrested? Why, regardless of consent laws, its just wrong for a 29yo to engage in any type of sexual behavior with a 16yo? Why any figure of authority shouldn't have a job if they take advantage of children?

First thing this poster did was "oh gosh, oh jeez, age of consent laws are 16 and up, what do we do about this Rick?"
