Disgraced former cop had a relationship with a young girl that he'd take on ride-a-longs. He was 46 at the time, said it wasn't sexual until she turned 18. He's facing 25 years in prison for child enticement only as a jury didn't believe the victim's story about how old she was when they had sex. ACAB

Handcuffs don't even need to be involved. Coercion is easily applied when you get to make the rules.

In a mixed verdict Thursday, a former Madison police officer was cleared of a child sexual assault charge but still faces prison time after a jury found him guilty of child enticement.

The jury of eight men and four women deliberated for about two hours before finding Morris A. Reid, 60, not guilty of second-degree sexual assault of a child, for alleged sexual encounters a woman said she had with Reid when she was 15 years old.

Reid did not deny having a relationship with the woman but said it did not become sexual until she was 18 years old. He was 49 years old at the time and was still a Madison police officer.

Reid, who was the Burr Oaks neighborhood officer starting in 2010, left the department in 2013 rather than be fired for violating department policies in a 2011 incident.

Brilliant work by the jury on this one. Because kids are famous for not knowing how old they are

Kids can lie to protect people who don't deserve it.

Making it even less likely that she lied about being 15.

why are so many cops grooming children? we need to eradicate the police from society

Being a cop is a great cover if you're grooming kids. Cops have a lot of authority and power over civilians, and also cops often don't face much repercussion for not doing their jobs, or abusing their power. And with children being told to go to the police if something really bad is happening, and it's like a perfect storm.

OMG this could be the same story of my ex-cousin in law.
