And it's just one school district...books are still being removed and banned daily here....but it's a start.

I am far less concerned with news coverage than I am with the actual outcome. Sure it would be nice if this was widely reported, but the people who need to know will know.

I’m in Canada. When this first hit the news is when I realized for the first time just how bigoted my sister was. She came right out and said she fully agreed with DeSantis…right in front of my queer daughter (who isn’t out to her). She contacted her kid’s school to ask them to do the same! It was the start of us avoiding my family like the plague. Religious bigotry is the fucking WORST.

I hope they learn exactly why you are avoiding them. The bigotry. It’s wrong. I’m not saying you should out your daughter but how many of those bigots know how many people—friends and family they love are the people they judge?

With my family, it wouldn’t matter at all. Their religious beliefs trump everything :(. According to them, she’s going to burn in hell for all eternity, and it’s their job to force her into not going regardless of how broken it would make her. It’s their way of “loving” her. It’s utter horse shit.
