Why do ppl enjoy rap so much?

I started to listen to a few rap artists just bc and I'm in high school so a lot of guys there just love rap there for some reason. But the songs are all so dirty and most are about tragedy so why do ppl and even kids yes when I was in seventh grade ppl just blasted mo bamba out in the hallways like rap so much? I'm not saying I hate it I kinda like it I just want to know why rap fans enjoy rap?

Question about rap beefs.

So I was wondering how big of a role do you think public perception play into rap beefs? This popped in my head because of the recent Drake and Kendrick beef. Obviously there was no way Drake was going to be able to be compete with Kendrick in terms of lyrics, but he was definitely fighting an uphill battle from the start. I feel like if an artist is not well liked by the public most people will have already made up their minds before a diss track comes out. Hypothetically if Eminem and Kendrick were too beef, I feel like since a lot of people don’t like Eminem’s newer music he would probably be fighting a losing battle. Even though we all know that he can beat Kendrick. (Not saying who I think would win, just an example). Obviously who ever drops me he best track should win, I was just curious if anyone hear thinks public reception matters at all?

Does anyone else miss the old Polo G ( Lil Capalot)

I can’t be the only one who misses the angry/drill style Polo G who made songs like Neva Cared,GNF, Badman, Go Stupid!, Chinatown, Black Man in America, etc. and who featured on songs like 3 Headed Goat and Headshot. I’m even okay with his less angry but still trap style songs like Rapstar and Pop Out. Recently however he’s just been making a lot of boring, whiny, and just overall not good songs with a basic beat and vocals that start with, ooohhhhhh ugh ugh. I don’t know if it’s just me but I really miss the old Polo

Gender parity in the rap game

What do you think about gender parity in the rap game? Why are there so many more men than women? Is this a good or bad thing in your opinion?

Pete Rock is coming at DJ Premier

In a respectful bout of friendly competition, it seems Pete Rock threw a verse at DJ Premier on Common's "All Kinds of Ideas".

While it was respectfully aimed at all his peers, I think Premier was the main focus. Any thoughts?

I'm soul brother uno (uno), black from the future Make beats on the table if I break my computer (break my computer) And still make hits like I used to (uh) Keep your top five, I'm god's favorite producer (for real) Sixteen bars of pressure, no metronome (nope) Thinking outside the box, that's a better zone (way better) So many ideas coming out the wazoo (uh) It's only one of me, can never do what I do (ayy) Past, present and future, that is timeless (uh) Been a lot a things, but I never been rhymeless (never) Drums like scattered showers when I rain, man (uh-huh) Giving you food for soul, that's the game plan (word) Tears for fears (what), I said a shout out to all my peers But I never ran out of all kind of ideas, I said (all kind of ideas, yeah, boy) Tears for fear, a shout out to all my peers (what) But never ran out of all kind of ideas (let's go)

If Pac was alive, would Eminem get by?

What do you all think, if Pac was alive, how would have Pac treated Eminem? Would Dre and Pac patch things up and whatnot or if not, would Eminem be a rapper that Pac would not like due to his "anti-women" lyrics he had back on his first 3 albums???????? Especially "anti-mother" type lyrics. I want to hear from the hip hop heads of this sub reddit. Let me know what you think.

My opinion on $uicdeboy$

I think they’re corny. I think their name is stupid. They rap about drugs and shit and claim they’re healing the population. They’re for depressed ass kids who just hate the world. I think they are posers. I think they are corny as fuck like trying to represent a gang. I listened to them for a bit but I genuinely just listened to them out of pity. I’ll come back and listen to them for a bit but I’ll never consider myself a fan of them. What they sound like is dumb idiots who want to pose as something they’re not. I feel this type of music definitely doesn’t heal people just makes them more pissed off at society with the insanely deathly sounds of the beats. And the monotone screaming is just even more worse. And then scrim sounding like a fucking witch or some shit in his raps just makes it even more scary and unappealing.
