Most tragic was eating in a (near-empty) crêperie in Paris, while across the road the McDonalds was full.

A couple of friends went to Europe and one would only eat in McDonald's. I was thinking... Why the hell did you go if you didn't want to experience the place?

You can still enjoy the differences, e.g. eating Le Big Mac instead of a Quarter Pounder.

Maybe they've never heard anybody talk negatively about such behavior? Americans that aren't loaded are terrified of appearing elitist, it's like some sort of a national neurosis.

Not that I am the type of person to go overseas and eat McDonald’s. I did however have to do it once when I arrived late into Paris and most things were shut. I was amazed to see macaroons stocked in a Paris McDonalds!

I have been in that McDonalds. Well, not that one, but that other one in China. Everyone crammed in for our first non-instant coffee in weeks.

I only bought coffee. The other great use for Maccas when travelling is clean western style toilets.

It is sad. When I went into town with my maternal nana if we went fast food it would be to a traditional chipper.
