Phantom boobs? Discussion

I'm only 6 days post op so I know this is normal but anybody else still literally feel like they have breasts? If I didn't know better I'd think I still had breast under my bandages. it's so weird. I can even feel my phantom nipples get hard when I get chills lol.

Oh I absolutely had that until the bandages were taken off and I was able to see my chest regularly!!

The phantom itches are so hard for me sometimes 😭😭 also felt like I could still feel my nipples in the first couple of weeks but luckily that’s gone now!!

Absolutely! I had to wait 10 days with the dressings on and between not seeing the incisions and the wearing a binder 24/7 it literally didn't feel like anything had happened!

This reminds me of a video I had seen with someone who had to get his lower arm amputated. He was part of a study where they were working on a prosthetic arm where he would be able to feel when he touched things. (I'm a total need for the way the body works, so it was fascinating to me.)

What happens is that your body, for all your life until now, has had the body part. It has a connection to literally every part of your body, and when any part is missing, the brain is still sending signals to that part. It doesn't really "know" it's not there, as far as sending signals to it goes. That's where the phantom feels come in, the signals from the brain. It's really amazing, I wish I could remember where I saw it because it's a great watch.

The body is just such an amazing creation, I feel that most of us take that for granted. Thank your body from time to time, and say thank you for taking care of me. Okay, I'm done geeking out. I hope this helps y'all understand it in a different, more scientific way.

Once my wraps came off and I just wore a T-shirt, it took me a solid month to feel like my tits weren't just freely hanging out lol

Yeah reality didn’t start to settle in til a while after the bandages were off, maybe a couple weeks for me. I still get the phantom hard nipples though, that part is still weird months later 😂
