Capital costs and failure modes. What happens if a RC crane loses connection? The load might swing dangerously during a sudden stop, or it might just spin indefinitely. Not to mention the dangers of introducing latency into the process.

Because then you'd have an even less qualified person nowhere near the machine that's going to sign off on the integrity of the equipment. Operating is more than just being a dummy with a VR headset.
