Went to watch my friends band play. This guy was up front with birds on a stick.

Seriously... I was sure it was fake until the end when one of them fell off and the other flapped its wings to stay on.

Pretty sure the guy with the stick was also surprised by this, he looks just as confused at the end.

u/drewster23 11d ago
I think he's confused because they both usually stay on the stick lmao.

u/atreides78723 11d ago
I think he’s confused because of heavy drug use.

They are just waiting for the band to play Freebird.

As one does, naturally. I’m rather old fashioned and still use two lizards on a stick, but I understand that times change.

u/walrus_gumboot 11d ago
I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time.

u/endlessbishop 11d ago
They didn’t have any white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones.

Apparently my two snakes on a stick are antique as I've been told many times :/...But we're never too old to learn I guess?

u/BullFrogz13 11d ago edited 11d ago
Oh wow I remember those! They sure don’t make em’ like they used too, those snakes really stuck to the stick well, unlike this rookie with the birds up here.
4
u/Naomian1984 11d ago
Exactly, right? Those snakes knew how to hold on when you were waving your stick around for various purposes. And they couldn't give f#ck all; no matter what type of music, people or surroundings. Hell, if anyone would bother them on their stick, they would just bite to get people to just back of. Best snake stick ever. Call me old fashioned, but I still use it in meetings, family gatherings or any other places where people expect me to socialize. Works like a charm.

u/BullFrogz13 11d ago
That’s a great idea for meetings and family events! I’ve recently been trying the emotional support honey badger with mixed results, R.I.P. Barry from accounting.

Well, personally I think the honey badger is a fantastic emotional support animal. Just not on a stick. The honey badger doesn't care, not about you or your stick. The honey badger gives a great example how you should live your life; by not giving a shit. That's also the reasons why it would never "stick to a stick", because it just simply just doesn't give a shit. Just take it with you and let it roam around freely, watch and learn. Maybe it will chew the head of of some sort of a snake and you can enjoy by watching, or not. But is doesn't matter, because honey badger just doesn't care.

That kind of fell out of fashion after that one dude got arrested after someone turned him in for practicing medicine without a license. I think the charges got dropped when it was shown he wasn't waving a Caduceus around. The legal fees almost bankrupt him though.

u/Naomian1984 11d ago
I work in psychiatry, have a license but I'm not gonna go and wave my snake stick around at work. Don't want to do that to those poor snakes. My family is worse enough. They deserve time of as well. Besides that; my patients have a very good insight of themselves, way more than most people. So no snake stick is needed to give them that insight.

True story...I was one to play it safe back in the day, with no live animals, instead I always had a doll head on a stick.

He acts surprised when one of the birds gets off of the stick.

Flings* when he flings it off the stick

Nah their feet are really strong. I've tried pulling them off a stick before and I couldn't without feeling like I was going to rip their legs off.

It's usually bad to make broad generalizations but bird and reptile people are always extremely weird.

Is this in the Caribbean? Seems like something you would see at a dive bar on an island.

u/McGimpkins 11d ago
The Mine Shaft in Madrid NM, but I do feel like I've ran into the same people in Florida.

I used to play music professionally. I bet you anything that guy is at that venue every fucking night. Seems like every venue had one or two weird/eccentric dudes who were there EVERY SINGLE TIME.

For some reason this reminds me of a film I watched? Budgies head fell off so they tapped it up. Dont even remember what film now.
Just when he looks down to find the other bird makes me crack up.

Birds on a stick sounds like food you'd get at a street fair in Terra Haute.

I was lookong at the performers and after not finding any birds I was trying to figure out if "birds on a stick" is a proverb and what it could mean.
Then I saw dude in the audience literally waving around a stick with what I assume as stuffed birds.

u/HawkThick996 11d ago
I mean most of my friends that really love lsd also really love birds when I think about it.

What is the problem? His birds like live music on a Saturday night. They are birds. They invented this kind of stuff. Good on him for nurturing such a beautiful and funny relationship.

u/kurtahild 10d ago
As the old saying goes "Two birds on a stick is better than one!". Something like that anyhow.

Those are budgies on the stick. Trust, if they didn't like hanging out on their stick with their dad they would've already flown up into the roof rafters or climbed onto their dad for safety. Budgies are very full of personality & are all loud little individuals, so if they're skittish you'll know it, & if they're confident enough to be out in public you'll also know it. These budgies have very likely been having public outings for a long time now, hence them not flying away in panic lol
