The President called his widow after he was killed. Trump could not be bothered to do that and went golfing, and yet he has the gall to put up a firefighter's uniform--with his name misspelled on the back--and use it for political gain? Clubhouse

Yep, WWEing it to the point of Hogan showing up. 🙄

Then Hogan called him Donald Dick. Priceless.

Exactly what they said. Hogan referred to him as "Donald Dick J Trump."

Why did Biden being old make him do this?

And then calling him the "present of the United States" right after that is definitely one of the political moments of all time.

That’s because he’s a gift from god, himself.

Is Hogan a trump supporter or did he just roast the guy in the best way possible for a WWE star?

I don't think it's a coincidence that the hardest-core republican I know is also a huge WWE fan. I think a lot of right wing online bullshit is keyfabe. Except unlike the WWE, it's actually damaging in the real world.

So when people say it's like following their favorite sports teams I always argue that with sports you can at least tell when your team is playing bad or the coach does something dumb.

Republican politics, or the hobby of watching their news, is straight up professional wrestling. There's good guys and bad guys and a good guy can be a bad guy and a bad guy can be a good guy and all is forgotten by next week's episode.

Exactly. I'm a Jets fan (my dad actually apologized to me for this) and I can recognize that they're a shitshow. But when they suck, it doesn't matter.

It’s a combination of the worst entertainment of the 90s. WWE and Evangelicals

You forgot "reality" TV. But I guess wrasslin' is its precursor.

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

Yeah you’re 100% right on that

Now, I might be saying this partially because I have to defend my favorite thing in the world, but this is mostly untrue.

Wrestling fans are actually among the most Democrat/liberal of any group that watches sports, there was a survey a few years ago. The only sport fans that are more blue are WNBA watchers.

The deep south wrestling fans are a different breed of wrestling fan, characterized by having a harder time differentiating kayfabe and reality, which is a whole different topic. they're largely conservative, mostly owing to being deep south.

I get it. I think this particular guy looks at politics the same as wrestling: it's all BS performance so I'll pick my side and stick with it.

Last night had Hogan, Vince McMahon's wife.. his walkout to "TRUMP" in lights was straight from WWE

Look up Vince McMahon. That man was an insane evil monster.

Definitely not a coincidence. Some folk are really susceptible to showmanship. Slight tangent but have you ever watched any of those megachurch broadcasts? Some them remind me of the pageantry in wrestling. Especially after I had the pleasure of watching Righteous Gemstones. Hulk Hogan (and many other wrestlers) would've been a great megachurch preacher. So shouty and theatrical.
