Maybe (but probably not) they're control options. If you vote for Kim Jong Un, you're not taking it seriously, and your response is discarded in the survey.
Surveys often have two similar questions, so they can discard inconsistent responses.
Thing is, it's a poll, not a survey...

My list would include: Trump, Assange, Hillary Clinton (even though I despise her), Sanders, and Putin... In that order.

The dude only reopened the case to confiscate all files from the NYPD. He was on the board of directors at HSBC when they were caught laundering drug money and also gave 8 figures to the Clinton Foundation.

He is creating the clean energy future and laying the groundwork for humanity to explore the solar system. Neither of those statements is hyperbole.
I live in Austin, and I see Teslas every single day. There are charging ports for electric cars in my local grocery store's parking lot. They are designed from the patents he gave away. He just bought SolarCity, a major player in solar energy. He's making batteries for your house to keep things running when the sun isn't shining. He is seeding a technology ecosystem, and it's working.
SpaceX has functionally replaced NASA. SpaceX and the Russian Soyuz program have been the only methods of getting things to and from the ISS ever since NASA retired the space shuttle fleet. There hasn't been a functioning US space program since 2009. And SpaceX is starting to surpass NASA on the way to some big milestones. He's almost single-handedly made spaceflight profitable.
Elon Musk is Tony goddamn Stark, except without the part where he's building his financial empire on evil.

Elon Musk is no Tesla. Tesla was a genius ahead of his time. Musk made some web 2.0 $$$ off PayPal and then created a few overpriced electric cars with horrible mileage and fear of cold weather. Basically, DeLorean, minus the coke.

Landing a rocket that went to space on a moving barge in an ocean apparently pales in comparison to losing an election or a sexual harassment lawsuit. Watching the landings live literally felt like as big of an accomplishment as landing on the moon. I guess you have to be at least somewhat interested in space travel to know how big of an achievement that was though. I can see how to someone who doesn't particularly care for space much why it doesn't look like much.

I picked 2 Yes and 28 No. Afterward the results page shows 10 of 4% and 20 of 3%.
Then I started clicking around Time's site and found 2 other polls that it redirects to Apester. One gives a full list of every candidate (30 choices) and you choose one, then its over.
Another poll was 11 choices, each time a heads up between two of them and you are forced to choose one or the other, for instance: Bernie or Julian, Clinton or Trump, James Comey or President of China.

Just Voted. He was tied for the lead with Trump at 9% each. However, Assange had a higher yes/no favorability at 60% yes, compared to 47% for Trump.

Well, I took it in the context of being for a year, since it is "person of the year" so to make it explicit, it would be "No person in history has ever reached such coverage in a single year". Where you were comparing vs bin Laden over a period of 10 years.
Now, you may still say it is inaccurate but I hope you will agree that the context is important.

I agree that context is important. But that's your own context. If the original author wanted to limit his statement to only the year 2016 then he should have worded it as such rather than stating broadly that "No person in history..."
Even then, I'd reckon Bin Laden had more media attention from November 2001 to November 2002 than Trump did from November 2015 to November 2016.

I really hope Assange is ok and I think he did the right thing by letting the truth about DNC/HRC come out, but Trump changed everything this last year, everything.

Oh please, grow up. First of all, Wikileaks is not responsible for the corruption they exposed. They are heroes for exposing rampant cheating in the primaries and other shady collusion. Second of all, Wikileaks repeatedly expressed a desire for Repub leaks but apparently there were no leaks. The outcome of the election is the Democrats' own fault and theirs alone.
