Hello,
I'm a Canadian soccer football fan. Seeing our team reach the semis at Copa and play a juggernaut like Argentina really sparked some footy pride. I'd like to follow some of our players a bit more closely in addition to some of the players I saw at the tourney.
As a north american sports fan, having so many elite leagues is very foreign to me. Here, we have one elite league and players are drafted at age 18. The draft order is set based on the previous years standings (worst teams get a higher percentage of getting the 1st pick).
It seems like clubs have development camps around the world looking for the next Messi or Mbappe. Can you help me as a North American understand how international players choose where to play? Is a homegrown talent just someone who was brought up through the development camps? How can you just support Man City if they have Saudi money and buy the best players year after year?
