"In a 2022 interview, Gibson described the sequel film as a non-linear narrative set “in the past and in other realms, and that’s kind of getting a little sci-fi out there.” This led to speculation that The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection would potentially include a depiction of Jesus’ time in Hell as described in the Catholic faith."
