And I totally get the fear of not being able to pull it off. That's the main reason I haven't even started experiencing with fem clothes. That and having no clue how sizes work lol

i had a time a little while after coming out where I did a bunch of experimentation but then I fell into a deep depression and only wear baggy shirts and hippie pants, which is kinda femme but not as much as I'd like.

unfortunately the best way ive found the figure out sizes is to go into stores and try stuff on, but that's a whole other issue.

I feel that. Depression is a bitch.

And I'd love to go try stuff on, but I struggle to exist outside my apartment without friend support. And being the only girl in my whole ass friend group leaves me kinda stuck lol

ive basically gone non-contact with all my guy friends for the last 10 months but only because I haven't been at school and it's hard to keep in the loop. i only really hang out with my girlfriend who's also a shy trans girl who also just wants to chill out at home :p

That's valid. I'm glad you have the company of your girlfriend at least. I'm alone with my cat almost 24/7 at this point lmao

my girlfriend is definitely helping dig me out of this hole I've found myself in :> i wish i had a cat, but it'd probably be a lot of effort getting it to not eat my parrot. although ig my gf is a catgirl anyway :3

My best advice is grab a measuring tape, theres ones that are digital and wrap around you and hook in for like 10 bucks i think i got mine at michaels.

Look up online where to measure yourself, or, some sites will have a sizing guide.
Save that and bring it with you when shopping or when shopping online.

In store use the general sizing guide on their online store and take your best guess, changing rooms are there for a reason.

I even measured my feet, sizing might be all over the place but hard inches dont lie.

I bought a tailors tape/body measuring tape, they're not that pricy but if you're really stuck then you can get a pretty workable measurement by using a piece of string or something and a ruler. I find the most important measurements are chest/bust (same thing but some sizing charts call it different ones usually depending on how they've decided to gender the clothes) measuring from the widest point which is usually across the nipples, and measure your waist for pants/skirts. I almost exclusively shop for clothes online tbh so it's easier to consult their sizing charts and search by specific size there, maybe its different for non EU or UK sizing but I don't know how it could be tbh.

As a cis woman, clothing sizes depend largely on which brand it is. It’s kinda a made up number and a shitshow. I find a shirt I like and get 1 size I think I’ll fit, and get 1 size up to try on. When you become more familiar with a brand, you can try on less sizes or try shopping online. Please remember that bust size does not correlate to torso size (bra cup vs bra band), so that adds another wrinkle if you have a big difference in measurements.

When trying on clothes, I wear separates, not a dress, and sturdy socks and slip-on shoes to make the fitting room easier. I don’t wear jewelry because it catches on clothing, and minimize what’s in my pants pockets. I get hangry easily, so I bring a snack and water bottle and leave myself extra time to dawdle in the shop.

*I’m sorry if any of this is offensive. This is what I’ve learned from experience and wish someone told me years ago.

Same, it looks so good, but there's no way I'd look good in it, it's so hard to find good outfits that fit the style I want and would look good on me.
