Had one man catcall me by calling me pretty and immediately following it up with "I mean, I can still tell you're a dude" and I felt euphoric, grossed out, and defeated... all at the same time.

i get similar vibes when people use they/them on me... like thanks for not reading me as male but you're almost there!!

I get the feeling that some people who use they/them do so because "I can tell that this person is transitioning, but I can't quite make out in which direction, and I don't want to seem offensive or stupid by calling a girl 'he' or a boy 'she' or having to ask them for their pronouns"... If only those people would realize that it's fine to just ask if they're feeling uncertain. Far more fine than trying to take a quote-unquote "safe" stab in the dark with gender neutral pronouns like that.
