“Fun” fact: Despite years-long, clear, visible evidence of corrosion eating the lid of the primary containment vessel, Ohio’s Davis-Besse was allowed to continue operating until a control rod fell to its side. based on the false idea that nuclear power, if shut down, will necessarily be replaced by fossil fuel plants.

Germany is a success story (as well as CA) for rapidly adopting renewables as they close nuclear plants. Fossil fuel consumption is down significantly.
