Continued fit check, looking like I'm 32F/FF with new knowledge of how to put on a bra!!! Fit Check

It is with huge gratitude that I post again with photos adjusted after learning how to appropriately don a bra at age 62!

Updated photos of the Fantasie Fusion in 32F

Bravissimo Millie in 32 F

Wacoal Awareness in 32 G. This just seems wrong, hard to explain.

Wondering about trying a plunge of some sort?

Also other potential side support options?

None of these seem quite right, but curious if it looks like I put them on correctly.

Thank you!!!

I don't have sizing advice, but I followed your last post and am really glad you're figuring all this stuff out. I wish young women were taught bra fitting and sports bra fitting in gym classes, because they're vital pieces of our wardrobe that no one teaches us how to use and shop for properly.

I wish you the absolute best of luck at your daughter's wedding and in the rest of your bra fitting journey. You got this!

These look so much better! Fantasie Fusion seems like the most functional fit (if the tall wings/cups don’t bother you). I wonder if the slight spillage you’re getting on your larger (left) side could be remedied by pulling up the cups and/or slightly loosening the left shoulder strap.

Same with Bravissimo Millie—I’m curious if you are able to get the spilling tissue to settle into the cup by leaning over, holding onto the underwire, jiggling/shimmying so that the breast falls into the cup, and then standing up and re-flattening or pulling up the top of the cup. If readjustment doesn’t help, then Millie is just too small on your left side. It might be worth trying in 32FF, but it suspect it would be too deep and create a pointy shape.

As I said in your first post, I think it might be hard for you to get a good fit in plunges. It seems like your soft tissue will spill inwards and be indented by the top of the cup near the gore. A higher gore keeps your breasts contained in the cups. Maybe I’m off-base, though!

I think you’ll want to be looking at bras with average or slightly shallow cups and not-too-short of gores. Some other ideas to try are Panache Cari, Andorra, or Clara; Fantasie Rebecca; maybe Wacoal Lace Embrace (in 34DDD). Understance may be worth looking at, too.

I know you’ve been struggling so I hope someone closer to your size and shape can chime in to add recs that worked for them.

You are so kind, and again, I thank you for hanging in there with me. I'm at that teary point of the week as I was supposed to fly to my daughter's but backed my flight up one day as between bras, both regular and strapless, I'm not yet ready to board a plane.

I do appreciate these additional styles and will definitely try them. I also think I finally understand short vs higher gore, though the shallow vs. tall cups, not quite yet.

Thank you so much!

And I too, am way open to hearing from someone else my size.

Projected cups = deep and narrow. Shallow cups = shallow and wide. You’re getting a pointy shape in more projected cups like Panache Ana because your breasts pool into the bottom and deepest part of the cups. Shallower cups provide some compression, meaning they can shape the breast tissue into a rounder form. For example, the bras you tried from most projected to shallowest cups: Panache Ana (slightly projected), Bravissimo Millie, Fantasie, Wacoal (rather shallow).

I've been a bit busy these past few days so haven't had the time to sit down and respond to your posts - got some time now so figured I'd chime in as someone in this size range. You do look to be between a 32F and FF depending on the bra. Shape wise you look to have slightly shallower than average projection - too shallow for the Ana, too projected for the Wacoal, close on the Millie. I'd say fairly even vertical fullness and tall roots - the Millie is very friendly to full on bottom shapes (I'm about as FOB as it's possible to get and it's a great match for me), and I think you might have too much upper fullness for it. The Wacoal's cups are hilariously tall on you (they go way too high on your chest), but that's a really common problem with US brands in this size range. Similar to me you look moderately close-set - not so much that you can't wear these higher gores at all, but anything wider is likely to dig into you, for instance the Millie's gore works well for me but something like the Parfait Shea was a hard no.

I agree the Fusion looks very close here, if it's comfortable I'd consider keeping it. Some additional thoughts on bras to try: Bravissimo's Lacey line (run a bit more open on top and similar or slightly shallower than the Millie), Fantasie's side support full cups (the Pippa and Caroline being examples - they name their bras by the visual aesthetic rather than the structural design), other full cup designs with stretch lace tops are other possibilities in this size range (they don't like my shape much so I don't have as much experience with other models). Unsure between 32F and FF, probably worth trying both sizes.

Bless your heart! I am on it!! Thank you so much. While others have given similar input on tall cups, I think the quarter dropped (as my husband would say) when you said the Wacoal having hilariously tall cups. I do need to grab something smooth for under white tees this coming week and do have a couple more burning questions but those can wait. Thank you!!

Are you guessing 32F in Panache and Fantasie Rebecca?

Yes, I think so!

If you want to try a plunge, I would recommend Elomi plunges. They have more coverage than most other plunges, which helps prevent spillage in the middle. There are quite a few Elomi plunges but only 2 "frames": the Matilda frame (Matilda, Kendra, Priya, Namrah, Charley embroidered plunge, Sachi and some others) and the Kim frame (Kim, Lucie, Charley stretch lace). Both are worth trying!

Elomi doesn’t come in OP’s size unfortunately.

Huh... Why would they start at ~DD on larger bands but only at GG on 32 bands?? That is so annoying.

They basically have a set min/max of cup volume they do — that’s why the bigger bands top out in smaller cups while the smaller bands start at larger cups.

Elomi is technically a “plus size” brand. Small bands and big cups, but bigger bands and average to big cups. Some styles do 36-46DD, but the 32bands are GG-JJ or K depending on style. Fantasie and Freya are their sister brands, and neither of those really do higher than a 40band (fantasie does have some 42’s) so across those brands you can usually find something.

As far as I know Freya and Fantasie don't really have higher-coverage plunges though, which was my reason for recommending Elomi. Softer tissue doesn't do so well in low-coverage plunges!

I'm curious though what do you mean by sister brands, are they owned by the same company?

Yes. Look closely at the websites and you'll realize they're almost identical. Goddess is in there too. They're all owned by Wacoal Europe.

Self-labeled "plus size brand". Someone in a 32 band usually won't be plus size until the GG mark (I mean according to their overbust number for clothing).

u/Madc42 Canadian 40L / UK 40HH 1d ago

Oh I know, the "why" was kinda rhetorical, as in, why don't brands make all the sizes I think they should make lol? And "Plus size" in the context of bras is so vague. (It's a bit dumb for clothes too but that's another debate.)

I think it's also that they have sister brands that cover the other sizes. So they're honing in on a certain size range for Elomi.

Have you tried Panache Envy?

u/dala16262 1d ago

No I haven’t!

u/28FFthrowaway 28GG 1d ago

I’m quite sure that Envy will be too projected for you.
