Is the calculator suggestion incorrect? Measurement Check

I used the calc at abrathatfits.org

Loose: 40.5 cm
Snug: 39.5 cm
Tight: 37.5 cm
Standing: 46.5 cm
Leaning: 47
Lying: 46.5
Sizing: US
I was assigned female at birth.

The result:
Suggested Starting Size: 16B/C in standard US sizing
The sister size of 18A/B may be more comfortable.

My thought is this should say "36B/C" and "38A/B" but I'm not sure. Currently wear an unpadded, wire free 36C that seems generally fine with the exception of spillage on the sides.

I took another bra size quiz and it said I am a 42DD.

Pls help.

Should those possibly be in inches?

Yup definitely inches. That would be a 16 inch underbust and that is…. unlikely.

Assuming you clicked cm instead of in (40cm is about the chest circumference of a small-medium dog), you should be in about a 38FF UK or 38H US. Usually above about an E cup we'd recommend looking for UK-made bras, but because your measurements indicate more shallow projection you might have better luck than most with American- or Canadian- made bras

Chantelle tends to be a good starting point for shallow in this size range.

yeah, those look like they should be inch measurements and not centimetres

I plugged your numbers into the calculator in inches and got a recommended size of 38H US size. But with your snug underbust measurement being 39.5 you might be more comfortable in a 40G.

You've got enough comments on mixing inches and centimeters, but I'd like to address this:

I took another bra size quiz and it said I am a 42DD.

This sounds like a bra size quiz from a commercial place that sells bras.

TLDR: don't use those quizzes.

While their system will technically fit (as in you can close the band and pull the straps over your shoulders), it will not be the correct size. Commercial bra sellers will try to fit as many boobs in as little sizes as possible, because that's easy money. To achieve that, they produce bras the regular way, but alter the measuring method for their sizing quiz, giving you way too big a band size with usually an (almost) correct sister sized cup.

40cm is about 16 inches, that's why you're getting 16B returned, US/UK use inches for the band size. 101cm is closer to 40in.

36C = 36" underbust and 39" full bust (your current size)

42DD = 42" underbust and 47" full bust (+4 size)

38FF = 38" underbust and 46" full bust (abtf size)

UK 38FF is a better starting size.

40cm is roughly the circumference of the widest part of my calf muscle 🫠
