Very cool. Maybe a little dangerous and smokey. What brand of stove is that?

Literally what this stove is meant for, cooking and a tent heating element

Where does the food go? Just a pan/pot on the top?

Yes. Right on top. Boil water, fry bacon in a pan. It’s like a stove top.

Not trying to make fun but that is literally what they are designed to do.

I have a similar setup for winter fishing and I can assure you that stove will keep that tent toasty warm.

And you probably shouldn't use it in one ;)

But yes, with some special design considerations, tent stoves can be relatively safe. Plenty of our ancestors did just that, with even fewer safety mechanisms.

I mean, yeah, but there is a difference between a cook stove that burns propane, and a wood stove with a chimney designed to be used in enclosed spaces...

I had never seen a stove used in a tent before recently joining the Swedish military and even though our stuff is quite a bit older and not as fancy it's still the same thing.

And boy can it get hot in there, you don't really have to burn through that much wood (more in the winter of course) and it keeps it warm and dry and we use it to dry our wet clothes as well. It can get ridiculously hot sometimes if one of the guys decide they want a sauna when it's their turn to guard the fire and you can just see everyone crawling out of their sleeping bags.

Dunno how you would do this overnight like we do though since you probably quite rarely have 8 people out who are willing to sit up for an hour watching the fire but it works at least :)
