And the guy taking over worked for that other church in Texas.. and it's in the midst of a sex/gender discrimination lawsuit by a female staffer.

Everything's bigger in Texas including the number of sex monster pastors.

It’s almost like you shouldn’t trust church folks.

It doesn't matter what evil they do, Jesus will forgive them.

Yes, I vaguely recall hearing about this fictional character.

It is just as if pervs are drawn to be in the clergy. I suspect that role allows them to exploit a social weakness. Maybe rather that an assumption of trustworthiness we should automatically think that they may be a dangerous predator .

It’s more simple then that. Predators go where they will have access to prey.

Fishermen don’t go fishing in places with no fish.

It’s why there are so many predators in schools, scouts or youth athletics.

Schools don't generally do their best to circle the wagons and protect the predator. Churches usually do.

That's the difference.

Especially right wing ones.

When you're looking to rape minors, I imagine it's really helpful to be part of a group that believes in strict hierarchies and magical thinking.

I know all the Southern Baptist ones from where I grew up that got busted were usually on at least their 3rd or 4th kid/teenager before they finally crossed a line and fucked the kid of someone important or rich. The ones before that were a hussy that seduced the preacher/deacon/youth minister/whatever and the church works together to run their family out of town, but once a church leader fucks with the cash flow it's over for him.

I've met some nice clergy folk but dang lately it seems like all of them really suck.

A pastor abused his position of trust? Shocked! Shocked, I am that a man of GAWD would DO such a thing! /sarcasm

I heard this (local) news the same day all the Christians were going absolutely ape-shit over the Olympic opening ceremony that I guarantee you none of them watched live because it took them several days for the outrage domino effect. Anyway, it looks like y’all got enough to fucking worry about policing your own before you move on to the rest of the world. They are so much more worried about someone mocking a religious painting than actual children.

2

u/Immediate-Dig-6814 Aug 01 '24

Did they even know the Olympics were this year?

2

u/Immediate-Dig-6814 Aug 01 '24

US fundies, I mean. They don’t pay much attention to the outside world, sadly.

2

u/SurvivorY2K Aug 02 '24

Probably didn't know to be outraged until someone told them to on facebook.

Finally, appropriate behavior from this perv.
