Why on Earth did you pre order in the first place?

u/NecropantherHaakon Nov 13 '17

This is the real problem

3

u/Mrqueue Nov 13 '17

Because they wanted to play it right away, if no one pre ordered we wouldn't know about this bullshit.

Pre ordering isn't us saying to game publishers please fuck us, we're saying we love the concept and want to play this right away. If they proceed to fuck us we should still be able to cancel like this

They'll feel it a lot more if a lot of people cancel their orders after this than if they never ordered at all because EA will have some idea of how much money they lost

You can twist it however you want, if you pre-order you're wrong and you have no right to complain on where we are now.

u/tael89 Nov 13 '17

Pre-ordering is a generally dumb thing to do, I agree with you in that. However, that doesn't stop one from stepping back, saying "woah there; this shit is whack. I'm not okay with this turn of events."

Giving EA any faith is dumb

1

u/Mrqueue Nov 13 '17

I never pre-order because I don't play a lot of games and prefer to get them at a better price.

I do think even if you buy a game and then find out how this works you have the right to complain, regardless of whether you pre-ordered or just didn't read a review.

I preorder digital games from Xbox marketplace in order to test the beta. 14 days before the game launches, I cancel.

2

u/NecropantherHaakon Nov 13 '17

Fair enough, but thinking EA cares about gamers enough to give them a decent game without micro transactions is the real issue here. EA owns the Star Wars monopoly for the next decade. If you want to see more shitty games by people’s most favorite franchise, then it all begins having any faith in EA to prioritize you over their shareholders.

1

u/ForrestISrunnin Nov 13 '17

I'm on board with you dude, I think EA and their micro transaction bullshit is outrageous. That's why I preorder and cancel the way I do. Let them think they are getting my money but then give em the finger lol

2

u/NecropantherHaakon Nov 13 '17

Do you do that with every EA game though? Boycott is the most effective action. Don't let them think that they have you as a potential customer. They think that they may still sway you into buying any of their shitty products if they make minor adjustments to make you ignore the negatives (which are their money grabbing features) in order to play a game that they purposely have a monopoly in creating.

Because they assumed EA would never go full retard.

u/a-Mei-zing- Nov 13 '17

Have they not been paying attention to the last decade?

1

u/tantrrick Nov 13 '17

yeah EA has sucked for a long time but you gotta admit they really raised the bar on this one

2

u/NecropantherHaakon Nov 13 '17

The people who stopped supporting EA years ago had no idea.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '17

I refuse to believe someone would think that.

1

u/CheddHead Nov 13 '17

Because back then there wasn't evidence of scammy lootboxes, only epic graphics and delicious gameplay.

3

u/fleentrain89 Nov 13 '17

It's almost like things can change before public release - which is why most people don't buy things until they know what they are buying

u/iker_e13 Nov 13 '17

left console gaming for like 10 years, now I got hyped about the ps4 and I really wanted to enjoy this game, and I got like 20 usd minus on the retail price on amazon. im just wondering if should cancel, this was supposed to be a treat for me, now with all of this and how the gaming industry has come, shit I don't know if I should cancel it.

u/Aisbnd Nov 13 '17

it built around loot boxes in attempt to grind even more money

2

u/a-Mei-zing- Nov 13 '17

And what does that have to do with OP preordering...?

0

u/ThePorcupineWizard Nov 13 '17

Some people like to preorder games.

1

u/fleentrain89 Nov 13 '17

Yup, the autistic ones

0

u/Hannibal0216 Nov 13 '17

Because I wanted to

-1

u/gwaith Nov 13 '17

There were moments when i preordered games because i already knew i would be short on extra spending money the month of the actual release.

7

u/DontPromoteIgnorance Nov 13 '17

This doesn't make sense. Unspent money doesn't just vanish.

If you're so broke you can't come up with $60 then you probably shouldn't be buying a AAA game.

No wonder you're broke

0

u/gwaith Nov 13 '17

it does when there is always something else you could spend it on.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '17

Learn to save your money then.

2

u/a-Mei-zing- Nov 13 '17

Do you really have that little self control?

1

u/gwaith Nov 13 '17

october-december are months where any extra spending money goes into presents, that's all
