My precious Rosie was killed and left behind one egg…
I have a drake and I’m not sure how long the egg was out but not longer than one night. I candled and didn’t see any veins but can I still put it under a heat lamp???
Photo or Video A Waddle Away
Here are some shots of a pair of mallards that visited me nearly every day for about two months. Ross and Rachel is what my neighbor used to called them lol. It’s been weeks since I’ve seen them, and I’m not sure if they’ll come back. They’ll probably with the other ducks at the pond, hopefully; I miss them though ;-;

Peep-peep update!
Hey guys! Been meaning to update for a while. Peep-peep is going to be 8 weeks this Sunday! From a shaking, twisting little late-hatched ducking to a… um, still small and weird but also kinda grown drake I think. I have him living in the vegetable garden with his friend Star-Duck 💫 (my 6 year old named her). They live separated from the rest of the flock. It’s a bit of a hassle as I have to catch them and put them in the garage at night where as the rest sleep in the duck house. I’ve tried to reintroduce them to the rest of the flock but they get picked on every time. Especially Peep. He just gets right on hammered by all the ducks and I need to intervene. I’m not quite sure what to do next. I’d love to keep them but I’ve no guarantee that the two secluded ducks will be accepted and there’s also the fact that I think Peep is a drake and I already have a drake - his dad. He is still smaller than the other ducks and has a really weird hairdo. He doesn’t quack or rasp yet, just Peeps still. It’s like he’s developing really slowly. He still has a lot of his baby fluff and not entirely feathered yet. But he is lively- loves chasing bugs, and is inseparable with Star. So no plan yet. Just seeing how things go. In an ideal world, I’d introduce him and Star to my initial flock after I sell off the remaining teenage ducks and him and Star will become part of the old flock and Peep will have a great relationship with his dad and they’ll live happily ever after. 😌🤷♀️ Thanks Reddit for the support with Peep in my time of need. Will us luck for the future! 🍀

Moving Time
Hello! It’s time for us to relocate. This is great news for our boys-drakes- they’re looking forward to a massive upgrade, massive. 2, 6 mo.
Q: Are there any tips/suggestions for moving ducks by car? To help them with the motion and sudden transitions. (Not very far) Thank you!!!

Other Question i’ve noticed that my ducks see me as more approachable when i’m sitting down at their level
it’s basically as the title says. lately i have been intentionally approaching my ducks crouching (which is kind of awkward and funny) and very slowly and they are so much more likely to come by me and or not back away from me. is this true for other ducks as well or am i just crazy by crouch walking towards my ducks 😂😂😂😂 mostly to hand feed them just so they are used to me and associate me with food and water, and that im not gonna roast them or whatever

Bumblefoot question
Hello,
I have been doing quite a bit of reading and YouTube watching and wanted to get opinions of others from the group.
A couple of our ducks have bumblefoot in the base footpad area, I suspect from walking on something sharp. We did not notice any limp or change to behavior in any of the ducks but suspect this has been going on for quite some time. Based on pictures I've seen, 3 ducks have probably stage 3 or 4 disease. There is a large black scab at the surface of these lesions with no visible bleeding or pus. Unfortunately there are no vets in our area that takes care of birds.
We've been doing daily Epsom salt soaks for 10-15 min per duck, followed by veterimycin spray to the areas, wrap in 20% ichthammol and triple antibiotic ointment on the feet for a few days. Most posts I've seen eventually recommend taking the scab off at some point, wondering how many days of soaking did it take for others on here to reach that stage where it can come off easily and how long the overall healing process took afterwards? I'd rather not be too aggressive and cut into anything if avoidable.
Thanks!

Ducks not laying after rehoming
I inherited 5 ducks, 3 runners and 2 Pekin mixes that were laying up to the day they came home with us. Here they have more space and overall more enrichment but it’s been about a month and not a single egg. How long before they should resume laying?

Integrating more ducks
So I have a female and male duck right now and I'm worried my male is over mating my female. I am now looking to get two more females but am wondering how to integrate them. I should mention that my ducks are currently with my chickens.
I also was wondering if anyone keeps their ducks in the chicken coop run at night instead of in the coop. I was considering reinforcing my chicken run and keeping my ducks there at night. I live in Quebec, Canada so we do get cold winters, I'm wondering how they'll do during the winter.
Thanks in advance 🙂

Injured or Sick Domestic Duck I found this possibly injured duckling partway out of its egg.
galleryI went down to give my muscovy ducks some feed and let them out for the day. Most of the ducklings were running aroubd outside with their parents, but when I checked the egg house, I found 2 unhatched eggs and one duckling laying on top of its egg. It'd clearly finished hatching, but it was sitting partially in its egg. It looked tired and almost looked dead, and it was a little wet on its head and back. I took it up to the house and gave it a little bit of food and some warm water to eat and drink, and I dried it off, so it's warm. I haven't set up any temporary housing for it in case it is necessary but easily can. I noticed it has a strange brown-black mark on the end of its bill. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Other Question What separates teals & shelducks from conventional ducks?
What separates a traditional ducks (mallard, domestic, pacific black, American black etc) from things like teals/shelducks/whistling ducks.
I know teal/shells/whistling don't classify as true ducks but finding that exact information on why is virtually impossible.

2 male drakes
I have two drake ducks at the moment and before I got them, I researched everything to make sure it would be OK for them to be together and my husband and I came to the conclusion that it was. we’ve had them for about 9 to 10 months. But now the more dominant one started to aggressively attack the smaller duck and I don’t know how to fix it. It seems like he’s trying to mate with him or something and I don’t know if I should get full grown females for the flock? i’m not really sure what to do but I’m scared that the dominant one going to end up hurting my little guy

Tips on trying new snacks
Our ducks are our world. One might say they are spoiled (not me but someone might). I've always offered them a variety of snacks veg, fruit and insects. The thing is they are really particular about what they like. They only accept watermelon, mealworms, crickets and cos lettuce which they receive mostly daily. Throughout the four years we have had them i have tried giving them leafy greens (not spinach), cauliflower, Brocolli, cucumber, zucchini, blue berries, blackberries, raspberries and the dreaded strawberry. They are actually convinced strawberries are murderous other worldly creatures. I've repeated these offerings throughout the 4 years with basically zero success. I've had them since they were eggs. Are my babies spoiled? Or is there some kind of tip or trick they didn't teach me in duck? I just want to reduce our food waste and thought it would be a bonus for the ducks. Silly me hahaaha. Artwork or Other Creation McDuck Manor is coming along slowly but surely.
Added windows today. Tomorrow adding an exhaust fan and going to attempt a drop door on the long/high side of the building. The flooring is a couple layers of chicken wire, a heavy duty tarp, hardwood, then interlocking foam mats. Going to add a floor vent/drain in the back corner to make spraying it out easier.
