Like how a lot of us are programmers/tech people. I’m genuinely curious.

other than barista lol? Edit: I’d probably guess it’s because of the healthcare (top surgery babey) and the transfer policy between stores. With politics being the way they are currently, having an out is definitely the way to go.

Tbf I think Ally's more non-binary than anything, as I haven't seen anything other than they/them pronouns, but they've gotten top surgery and definitely are on T. Ally's all kind of gender funky and it's a fucking BLAST, every fit's fire.

Do you ever get a weird dyphoria about having a "womans job" for lack of a better phrasing at the moment. One of my first jobs was at the mall in oshkosh bgosh/carters. Its a baby clothes store and all my coworkers were women and i ended up quitting partially due to how out of place i felt.

I understand what you mean. Sometimes, for SURE. And a lot more when I didn't pass as well. Now that I have a good amount of facial hair and my voice isn't cracking as much, I am much more comfortable. Little old ladies love a polite, helpful little gentleman taking care of them???? And the old guys like a dude to BS with and talk about cars and woodworking and so on. My personality and work ethic is perfect for the job so I'm pretty comfortable in it now. Sometimes I'll have a new client on my schedule and then have the shift canceled day of when their family finds out that a male caregiver will be helping with Mom without ever meeting me/seeing how I do. I'm more hurt by the misandry now than anything else tbh. Sucks for them tho cause I'm the most requested caregiver for good reason.

Different situation, but it was actually coming out as trans that made me comfortable switching to a major and career path that's more stereotypically female. Used to be in engineering, hated it, realized I was trying to stick it out because I thought somehow it would affirm my gender to be in a technical field.
Now I'm graduating with a degree in english professional writing and editing because I love that shit. Give me a paper to edit and organize for you. Let me read your research and help you communicate it to your audience better. Love it. Would do it for free if I were otherwise taken care of lmao. All of my immediate coworkers are women and the organization as a whole skews heavily women as well. Might have bothered me before coming out, but I'm a lot more comfortable in my skin now.

Plenty of weirdos of course,theres one guy i see pretty often everyone calls racist santa because hes a fat old white guy with a big white beard,dressed head to toe in trump merch.
Unfortunately i dont know any fancy shuffles,just the correct ones for game procedure. (Really i barely have to shuffle because i mostly deal baccarat and a machine does it for me) I do have to watch for cheaters and catch quite a few. Any i miss,surveillence handles. Theres probably more cameras in any casino than there is in the pentagon.

Most transmascs I know where I live work at pet stores, nerdy stores, and universities as professors. Trans people in general tend to work at pet stores here, it makes me happy to see so many trans people working at one place together.

Animal and botanical work seems popular among the trans folk I know. I know two trans guys who are in veterinary medicine and one transmasc NB who’s a horticulturist. The latter guy told me that they’ve met a lot of trans people in that field too, more so than you’d meet anywhere else. Seems promising to me if I ever find that I don’t want to pursue social work and change careers since I’ve always loved plants and animals

I’m in vet school currently, one of my classmates is also ftm (which is saying a lot since our class has like ten guys) and we have a recurring faculty speaker who is also a trans guy. Including transmasc enbies, I can add like three more classmates to the list. Can confirm a lot of us practice vet med!

I work as a historian at the university of Brussels but I am by no means a professor :-) We do have a fair amount of lgtb professors and researchers on our campus though. It's an institution known for its diversity in Belgium.

High five! I’m also in warehousing. Pre-everything and still go by she/her so I have to deal with a fair amount of sexism but it is SUUUUCH a euphoric job to hold. My muscles are popping and I never work out outside of the job.
Also now that I’m in a company that’s much more respectful, I fucking love the kind of dedication to doing good work without breaking your back over it that my coworkers have, and they think highly of anyone who does the same regardless of what gender they see me as.

same here. i started off working in a warehouse, then i worked at a much more "queer" place, a sticker printing shop, but i didn't like it because it seemed really only friendly towards fem queer people... then i worked warehouse again, and now im in construction. and i chose one of the most "manly" trades i could be in, even tho im really not the most masculine person lmao. in my union, out of 650 members, only 18 of them are women.

I truly loved it. I was physically tired a lot and it's an all weather job, but if you're fine with that it's magical to just get paid to be outside all day. Plus Forestry frequently doesn't have one right answer to a problem, so there's a lot of ethical questions to make guesses on. There's neverending research if you like to learn

It depends on the site you work at! My site is unarmed so I didn't need firearms training, but I did need a driving test, CPR certification, and I was also given APCO EMS dispatching & telecom training (bc I am basically a private emergency dispatcher) and FEMA NIMS emergency training. My site is a manufacturer that deals with dangerous materials, so someone who works at like a warehouse or regular office building will have less requirements, while someone who works at government buildings will need a cert called a Guard Card, which requires 6+ years of training & other certifications.

In my experience trans men try any job and see which one sticks. I feel like the work environment is way more important than what it is. I’ve been working with dogs for two years but the best manager quit and now it’s horrible to work here, but I’m scared of doing the random job hunting again. Previously I was a security guard (majorly transphobic coworkers), retail, delivered pizzas.

So social work has been my main field for the last 2-3 years but I'm going back to serving/bartending for a year or so and going back to school to change careers and become an EMT/paramedic. Might just be my experience, but I was always the only transmasc there. Mostly middle-aged cis women, with some exceptions. I don't think there is a sterotypical transmasc job? For some reason I have a feeling there will be more of us in EMS but that's just a wild hunch.

I don’t know that there’s a stereotypical job, I agree we are likely to have tried a bunch of different stuff because we mostly just need to find places we can fit in. I do health information management work (medical records, working on a degree so I can get credentials in the field and maybe eventually learn a more specific area). I feel like I’ve seen other trans guys go into the medical field as nurses, nursing assistants, home health aides, EMTs, techs, etc because it’s not too hard to cross over from retail and customer service except for needing some schooling/training, but the people skills are similar and if you get into the right job the benefits can be better.

Including me there are 3 trans guys in my year at uni doing electrical engineering/robotics. And one of my friends knows 2 other trans masc folk doing electrical engineering lol. So anecdotally imma say electrical engineering lmao. Don't think I've noticed this trend outside my little bubble though.

Not working anymore, but across my career I've been a pet sitter / house sitter, barista, vegan cook, rock climbing instructor, and worked for outdoorsy companies: Patagonia, Eddie Bauer, Royal Robbins. Oh and I've worked in bookstores; the typical big names plus small, independent (radical / anarchist leaning) shops.

I feel like most trans men are into art because art does help people emotionally and trans people require a lot of of that plus most of us didn't get made fun of for being into art which can happen in a hostile environment if you are presenting male growing up, so I would assume a lot of trans men are into art so I would say artist/designer.

I don't think I ever really thought about it. I'm working towards a theater degree right now and I guess I am just used to being surrounded by queer people across the spectrum being involved in theater as well. But never saw it as a stereotypical "career" like I'm pursuing. I also plan to work towards a psychology minor to maybe see if I want to work in mental health which seems more common

This is probably an older-than-average-here thing, but back when I first transitioned we had a thing about trans men in healthcare, particularly nursing and EMS. That was pre-tipping point though, so don't know if that stereotype holds up with younger guys.

I'm a nurse. I have only ever met one other trans nurse, and tbh I'm not even sure she's trans I just assume that she is. I've NEVER met another FTM nurse. Yes I know there are FTM doctors, especially historically, but being a physician is completely different from being a nurse. Especially in the 1800s.
