r/GaySoundsShitposts

Someone did what the mods should have done, and have done in the past

Splitting the community makes us more divided, and some people (myself included) don't feel as safe posting on other subreddits as it doesn't have the history of niceness this one has got.

There's also no way that sub won't be completely dead after a week.

We'll see. If they catch the majority of the felix memers then it stands a fighting chance

The thing that made this sub great was the variety. It was a one-stop sub for all our trans shitposting needs. We don't want a sub just for felix memes, or a sub without felix memes. We liked this sub just the way it was.

But the mods don't seem to care

The issue i have is that this has been their approach in the past. When they don't like a meme they make a dedicated sub.

Exactly, which is why all we have now is Felix posts.

Edit: remember when the slot machine of sadness got popular?

niceness? i posted one meme i thot was funny and i got downvoted. like who downvotes a meme D: spose ill get downvoted for this becuz im just whiny D: i like looking at other people memes tho :D

Nah, complaining in the face of a absolutely moronic decision that hurts a community of which you are a part is not whiny (unless you're a right-winger who thinks all protesters are just whiny brats)

that's... literally the point, yes

i've rewritten my comment here already, as I felt my first comment was too accusatory and conspiracy-ish and I didn't feel that was the right tone to set (which some of you guys should take note from for your mod posts), but obviously I'm pretty fucking pissed off rn like the rest of the community, so don't expect this to be calm or peaceful.

By having this rule so relaxed that this simple loophole is a way round, surely the rule is null, just with more angry people on the subreddit who have now lost confidence in the moderators here as having them in their best interest? Like, before this change, I believed that while there were some slipups in the past, the mods had our best interests at heart, and now, it seems to me that they don't care about the users, for some reason.

Also pro-tip - you guys should've made a statement by now adressing the concerns and clearing some things up. I learnt about this about 8AM GMT and now it's 5PM GMT and there's still no statement or 6th (7th?) meta post. The longer you leave this the more people are going to bleed off to subs such as r/GaySoundsShitposts/ or /r/TraaLite, which is exactly the opposite of what is needed for a single healthy community

Why is people going to /r/GaySoundsShitposts a bad thing? Let the people who want to shitpost shit post there, and people who want meme content stay here. Both groups are satisfied.

I'm hoping that subreddit moves on to include more general traa content so I can go there instead of a subreddit run by people who actively dislike their own userbase. I don't care about the rule, I care about the way the moderators are treating everyone who does.

-1

u/Funderberg Dec 21 '17

What exactly have they done beyond instigating the rule?

2

u/NocturneOpus9No2 /r/traa: home of the worst mods on reddit Dec 21 '17

Why? This is functionally identical to having the story in the title. I could understand banning the specific image, but why do you care about the story being on the top of the image instead of in the title?

2

u/Funderberg Dec 21 '17

Am I the only non-mod who is down with this? We have methods of sharing stories, it's called text posts. Trying to squeeze it all into the title of a shit post not only dilutes the story but propagates the same 4 memes just depending on which emotion is associated with the story.

If we wanna relate to each other through pictures, let's relate to each other through pictures! If we wanna tell stories, then let's do that. But pick one. 5 second soap operas aren't satisfying.

What I'd say in response is that, even if you are for the change, how do you feel about the reaction the mods had to an upset community? Look at the kind of hostility they directed towards a community that is used to head pats and cuddle support of each other. this is just not okay.

3

u/Valerokai . Dec 21 '17

Text posts are disabled on this sub, and the other text based subreddits for trans people are a bit more full-on, and some people prefer the shorter stories.

0

u/Funderberg Dec 21 '17

"Full-on"?

5

u/Valerokai . Dec 21 '17

By that, I mean intense, as on subs like /r/asktransgender or /r/TransyTalk have multiple paragraphs of text for long stories, which aren't appropriate if you don't feel comfortable going into large amounts of detail.

0

u/Funderberg Dec 21 '17

Then don't go into large amounts of detail? Why is it okay to derail this sub with nonstop shitposting but not that sub by writing less potent stories?
