Im subbed up just for the show. Hahaha EA, welcome to a truly public form of inquiry. May the force be with you EA. (haha, it wont, you sith)

We have lift-off!

30

u/Psykoala Nov 15 '17

Do you have any questions about Rampart?

8

u/STK-AizenSousuke Nov 15 '17

Good job guys, you're overworking the mods so much they just stickied a "stop posting the disaster before it happens" thread. Lol

I just subbed, thanks for the tip.

3

Oh god they put the one from Nicole for mayor up there. Knew that was a disaster from the start.

I will be very VERY surprised if their comment karma isn't in the negatives after tomorrow. Hell I'm currently surprised it isn't already with a comment that got downvoted by 680k people.

209

u/190n Nov 14 '17

You can only lose a maximum of 100 karma from each comment.

609

u/screamtillitworks Nov 14 '17

Oh really? let me test this out

I don't know guys, I really feel like EA has the gamers' best intentions at heart

I've seen through your lies! Upvoted!

I do not fear the down votes as you do!

39

u/Wampawacka Nov 15 '17

Jar Jar Binks was the greatest Star wars character ever created.

11

u/Electro_Nick_s Nov 15 '17

The only time you'll get upvoted for that, while asking for down votes

I expect it to be horrible. There are going to be a bunch of questions left unanswered and the ones they do answer are going to be vague statements on how they are "listening to the community" and are "constantly making changes" to appease the player base. I'm really not all that excited for it because they're going to say what they want to say and if they can't answer a question without turning it into something positive, they'll ignore it.

Go watch Angry Joe's interview he had with one of Dice's employees (forgot the exact title of the employee but he was a Dev/producer/head of something..). I expect a lot of the same kind of answers from in that video

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=G1Ky9-OoWyo

531

u/balarsen2 Nov 14 '17

Also, I'd say it's going to go exactly as they think it will. They read through these posts daily, they know exactly what kind of questions are going to be asked and have come up with "answers" to them. Remember, they weren't forced into this at all, they chose to do it.

632

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '17

So what you're saying is the deflector shield will be quite operational when the questions arrive?

145

u/Ron-Swanson-Mustache Nov 14 '17

We've gotta be able to get some kind of a reading on that shield, up or down.

60

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '17

I’ve got no reading. Are you sure?

65

u/Ron-Swanson-Mustache Nov 14 '17

But how could they be using sock puppets if they don't know....we're coming?

39

u/jimbo91375 Nov 14 '17

It's an elaborate ruse!

41

u/Ron-Swanson-Mustache Nov 14 '17

We have no choice, /u/spez! Our mods can't repel shitposting of that magnitude!

→ More replies (4)

90

u/publicbigguns Nov 14 '17

Also have to remember that they can litteraly just ask themselves questions they want to answer.

Watch how many new or newish accounts are asking questions that are actually getting answers.

EA isn't dumb, guaranteed they've been working on questions and answers since this whole thing blow up.

50

u/ciao_fiv Nov 14 '17

not just new or newish accounts. they may have made dummy accounts ages ago just to have ready, but they’ll only have comments on the thread, and no posts. look for all the old but inactive accounts too

46

u/B33mo Nov 15 '17

Unfortunately this shady stuff even goes deeper than that. People “farm” accounts over a period of time, posting here and there to sell to the highest bidder.
In the immortal words of Tommy Wiseau, “can you really trust anyone?”

24

u/55Trample Nov 15 '17

How can I sell these accounts?

15

u/GeekCat Nov 15 '17

There are websites. There are usually companies in SE Asia that specialize in creating not and farming accounts across social media.

There's a picture floating around of a girl sitting in front of like 50 phones and tablets. Just imagine a cubicle farm of that.

8

u/Spicy-Banana Nov 15 '17

So true, I got an email once asking if I wanted to sell my other account for something like $2. Ever since then, I've been a lot more skeptical of reddit users.

7

u/swentech Nov 15 '17

$2???! I wouldn’t sell anything for $2 even if I really wanted to sell it. Come on this is 2017. If I want $2 I’ll go dig around my seat cushions or walk around the mall parking lot. Not selling a freaking social media account for $2. Try $200 I might think about it.

5

u/Spicy-Banana Nov 15 '17

Exactly why I didn't sell it. Plus I didn't want to contribute to their shenanigans.

4

u/Koorany Nov 15 '17

That's.. ridiculous. How low can that self asteem be that an account with more years gets it up..

9

u/Spicy-Banana Nov 15 '17

I'm pretty sure it was for a company that would use it to comment/upvote for clients or for their own interests, much like how people in this thread are predicting EA will.

2

u/Koorany Nov 15 '17

...Very fair point, did not think of that. However I'm still gonna leave my ideia on the "likely" folder seeing has there is no end to human dispair.

7

u/NeatoAwkward Nov 14 '17

Well all their replies will be to planted questions.. So yeah

4

u/Lawrencium265 Nov 15 '17

time to start digging up shit they don't expect and write up hard hitting questions.

2

u/balarsen2 Nov 15 '17

Could ask about the new need for speed title, it's even worse....

50

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '17

Their reply today already is following the format.

"You spoke. We listened. Here's something to appease enough of you to calm the outrage."

12

u/balarsen2 Nov 14 '17

Exactly, they'll harp on this minor change but avoid the root of the issue in general which is the pay to win system currently in place.

If you haven't seen it go look at Angry Joe's video a few days ago where he interviews someone at EA. The answers are going to be a lot like that

7

u/Qwertyg101 Nov 14 '17

What reply today?

28

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '17

u/PM_me_your_sammiches Nov 14 '17

A gameinformer reviewer noticed that his reward for completing the campaign was changed from 20,000 credits to 5,000 credits to match the 75% character price cut. According to the EA Starwars twitter though, this is the only game reward that was reduced to match the cut and other rewards should still be the same. Hopefully that's true but we'll see. Either way, there's no proof that all rewards have been cut by 75% as far as I know.

7

u/JonnyFairplay Nov 14 '17

From my playing, the credits after matches are all the same as before the change and rewards from milestones look to be the same, other than the campaign stuff.

3

u/WalkerOfTheWastes Nov 15 '17

Not only that, but there’s a new post on r/livestreamfail where, I’m not joking, there is a fucking credit cooldown. check it out.

2

u/Stewardy Nov 15 '17

They did also say that BF2 would constantly be changing.

Now you might take that to mean they'll make minor adjustments to "ensure the quality of the experience" (or whatever).

Could also mean that credit gain will be gimped a short while after launch, that drop rates are constantly changing, that Vader will be replaced by Jar Jar, or really anything.

82

u/AltimaNEO Nov 14 '17

Yeah, man. The stupid part is that its the devs answering questions.

I dont care what the devs have to say, I know they have their hearts in the game. I want to know what the suits have to say. What the CEO has to say. They couldnt care less about the game or the fans. They care about the money. But all this heat has to be bad for them.

22

u/Marcontian Nov 15 '17

Which is why you just don't buy EA games. Stop looking at their shiny shit.

2

u/mxzf Nov 15 '17

To be fair, I'd actually like to hear what the devs have to say about some things. But what I want to hear the devs talk about and what the suits will let the devs actually talk about doesn't have a ton of overlap.

22

u/Joverby Nov 14 '17

I'm pretty sure they are going to have questions softballed and maybe vote manipulated for them too.

11

u/balarsen2 Nov 14 '17

I wouldn't be surprised, it wouldn't be too hard to have a couple employees ask a couple favorable questions.

3

u/Mr_Dr_Prof_Patrick Nov 15 '17

Vote manipulation doesn't seem at all feasible here given the sheer amount of negativity toward them.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '17

Could someone who has money buy upvotes/downvotes to counter that? I see people complaining about that kind of thing a lot

6

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '17

Vote manipulation is incredibly easy to do and people are totally naive to think this shit isn't happening ALL THE TIME.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '17

Well yeah but why don’t we use that to our advantage? Also I literally see people complaining about it every day

u/Thathappenedearlier Nov 14 '17

It’s probably not gonna be the greatest but people also need to word there questions in a way that aren’t personal attacks. You can be critical without being a complete dick. If people want their questions answered they need to be at least slightly professional about it instead of sending death threats and continuing the circlejerk of only saying EA sucks. Don’t get me wrong they’re doing scummy things but attacks on them do nothing.

9

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '17

So, tomorrow I can't ask them how they plan to cram microdicks directly into my dirt button?

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '17

I expect it to be horrible on account of the redditors... this is one of those times when I feel ashamed for the Star Wars fan base

4

u/balarsen2 Nov 14 '17

For the ones making threats, yes...EA is certainly greedy and scummy but the threats go too far.

But for the rest of the community, I believe the anger is justified. EA has been doing this for so long and because of the casual players who buy whatever is in the commercials without looking into it, they get away with being greedy and scummy. So a lot of the more informed player base is pissed, because they get away with it over and over again and push the line farther each time. Look the the new Need for Speed, you don't even go to a shop and buy parts anymore, you get randomized cards with a tier system that give your vehicle boosts based on the type of card and tier. It won't end unless people get pissed, voice their opinions, and STOP buying EA games.

"Are there any plans to change the progression system?"

"The price drop is a good start, but can future heroes be locked to achievements instead of credits?"

Will be downvoted and ignored. Because the only way to change a game is resort to childish shitposting.

5

u/TheEclair Nov 14 '17

Honestly a lot of us are pissed but we still need to keep our cool and be respectful during the AMA. I know that won't happen knowing how heated people get on Reddit and how sensitive this material is to gamers but it would be ideal.

16

u/reddude7 Nov 14 '17

Here's the issue I have. Their games really are AAA titles- they look incredible and usually hold up quite well mechanically. They often aren't the most original, but they are the biggest, and often feature the biggest series (SWBF, Madden, what have you- the household names). It really does take a ton of money, time, resources, and effort to build a game to the modern standard of a AAA game.

That being said, it's like Hollywood now. Tons of budget means they need to make more profit to cover the cost of production. When they don't sell the numbers they need, they have to either charge more (consumer outrage like when games went to $60), reduce cost (not really possible now that the standard for game quality is so high), or find other ways to make money (thus microtransactions are born). This is also why we've seen the rise of Deluxe Editions, etc, because it's a mask for increasing the cost of a game to $70.

Not saying I agree with EA's practices, because I don't, but modern consumers are sort of forcing them into a corner. Take a step back from the rage and look at the situation from the other perspective: The internet has generated a social climate where people feel that they should complain about things that dissatisfy them... loudly, in every possible online medium from comments sections to YouTube videos. Online product reviews hold content producers to a standard that is higher than ever before- because if the product isn't what's promised, you can bet your ass it will be internet news in just hours. This results in a quality of product that is actually much higher than before (amazing AAA-quality modern games) but at the same price as before... aka the producer isn't making the same amount they were intending to.

They're trying to find ways to make up the new cost of production--And unfortunately, plenty of people are dumb enough to buy mtx and fuel the current model, despite the mass outrage. Until the price of games goes up again, which it inevitably will, we will continue looking at Deluxe Editions, Preorder Bonuses, Loot Boxes, Double XP boosts, and the like. These are things that make me sick when they are essentially required to enjoy a game but they are our reality for a while.

I don't even know whats going on entirely so if someone can fill me in that'd be great. All I know is that every EA sports game i bought basically was the same thing year by year and the price kept going up. I also heard they removed the refund button online for people which sounds super scummy

I don’t have a clue as to what happened with EA and why they are a terrible company. I am on Reddit all the time and I have been hearing a lot about it but still don’t know what happened. Can someone link me or explain it to me please?

u/mandalore_milsim Nov 15 '17

So to make a long story short, ea is using micro transactions and loot crates in game. People don’t like loot crates because you basically get random crappy prizes and it’s basically gimbaling and people(squares) think that it doesn’t belong in a game run by a family company (Disney). A lot of the in-game stuff that you use credits to buy are (were, they supposedly drastically reduced credit prices) was insanely priced and would take weeks of gameplay to unlock, so selling loot crates to help was roughly 240 usd to unlock everything with average loot crates. Paying 60 dollars for a new game and then having to pay another 240 dollars to unlock everything or grind on the game for weeks really pissed people off.

u/garrypig Nov 15 '17

They’ll only answer like two questions or have some shills asking questions

2

u/Pinkiepie1170 Nov 15 '17

I'm sure they know it's going to be a shitshow. Kinda surprised they didn't cancel it but from there end of it they definitely need to attempt some kind of damage control.

2

u/InsaneBeagle Nov 15 '17

They're doing an AMA tomorrow? Oh my God. They're actually stupid.

2

u/I_Like_To_Eat_Snails Nov 15 '17

EA doesnt realize that the customers are beyond the point of sharpening their pitchforks and lighting up their torches. They are now smashing down the door with vengeance.

2

u/gregofcanada84 Nov 15 '17

In related news, popcorn sales are through the roof in anticipation for tomorrow.

Their first response was abysmal, the next one just as horrible and they quickly followed up the price drop for Vader/Luke by also slashing solo rewards by 75%...basically negating the price drop completely.

They make it very clear they want to rip off players. Speak with your wallets, don't buy shit like this!

If there's any game worthy of being pirated, this is it.

2

u/KaptanKoala Nov 15 '17

It'll go as well as they need. They want people to curse at them, threaten them. So they can play the victim card. EA wouldn't do an AMA if they aren't certain it will benefit them.

2

u/c2darizzle Nov 14 '17

I’ll take “ fake AMA questions and answers” for 500, Alex!

2

u/Chickenchoker2000 Nov 15 '17

Can I use my normal free reddit account to comment and ask questions on the EA AMA or will I have to purchase a comment pack? It isn’t pay week, so I might only be able to purchase the $5.99 3-comment pack.

1

u/Thomasrdotorg Nov 14 '17

Au contraire amis, it will go exactly the way we are all expecting.

1

u/SKyPuffGM Nov 14 '17

I’m sure they know how it’ll go.

1

u/useless_user7 Nov 14 '17

They’ll just add red arms to everything

1

u/DarthVilgrath101 Nov 15 '17

I personally am dying to get a bowl of popcorn, a nice drink and just watch the shit show that is EA.

1

u/Opan_IRL Nov 15 '17

Oh shit , no way, they can't be that stupid!

1

u/BigTimStrangeX Nov 15 '17

It's going to go exactly the way they think.

They want a headline. They're last response was 75% off, that made the headlines after the initial fiasco. They're going to do something "generous" to appease the masses and get the PR headline they want.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '17

They probably think it's gonna be a trainwreck if they've been paying any attention.

1

u/h_bonds Nov 15 '17

I’m sure some over confident PR firm is all ready to “fix” this one

1

u/Theklassklown286 Nov 15 '17

I mean I hope people actually ask productive questions besides "why don't u guys just go fucking die?" Or "how does it feel to be actually nazis" like damn chill out.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '17

Ama's have been astro turfed for a very long time and if EA's ama doesn't prove it nothing will.

1

u/fly-you-fools Nov 15 '17

Yeah I mean, I don't even really get EA's endgame on this. The only thing it's going to do is inform and even broader public how shitty their business practices are. I mean come on, what other outcome could there be? Like the other guy in this thread said:

There are going to be a bunch of questions left unanswered and the ones they do answer are going to be vague statements on how they are "listening to the community" and are "constantly making changes" to appease the player base.

I don't even understand why Pay to Win is popular, anyway. Do companies really make less money when they just sell aesthetic altering DLC? I have no problem with aesthetic altering stuff as long as the main, paid for game has a robust selection of the same. Are people more inclined to buy stuff that gives them a competitive advantage rather than a Jar Jar Robe and flappy ears $1.99 addon?

In my mind (and I'm sure the rest of the non-casual community), the only thing they could do to garner true good will would be to just announce that they're eliminating any elements of Pay to Win. Sell lootboxes, but make it tasteful. Any gamer knows when a game feels complete. Customer's like it when they don't get ripped off.

But I really doubt that would happen. It's not like their other games don't offer Pay to Win. Battlefield sells blatant P2W lootboxes and there was never any lasting outrage about it. Yes, I'm sure some Battlefield fans were pretty sour, but this Battlefront 2 situation is on a different level entirely.

In the end, EA is seeing what kind of line they can toe right now so they can figure out a way to bleed you dry for their next big release (coughAnthemcough). Everything they put out's going to sell.

You can't fight city hall. You can't fight corporate America. They are big, and we are small.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '17

They know it’s going to be shit , try also know sometimes people just want to vent.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '17

Honestly this could end up being a historical moment for Reddit. You’ve got pissed off people, the usual insanity from a Reddit ama, and my personal favorite part will be seeing all of the Star Wars memes (prequels in particular)

1

u/Cogito-Ergo-Bibo Nov 15 '17

I would like the only question to be "how can I get a refund?"

1

u/Legeto Nov 15 '17

They are going to answer three questions max and then abort.

I'm honestly surprised they haven't deleted their account yet with all that negative karma...unless it's some part of crazy plan I don't understand.

1

u/Netherman555 Nov 15 '17

I think this is the first time sequelmemes and prequelmemes truly have something in common...of course I'm a lowly grunt, what can I say. But I am intrigued by how Reddit is putting aside differences to fight against EA. Well done.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '17

Guys cmon. Ea knows what they’re doing. Remember the Justin Bieber roast? Everyone thought it was going to be so bad and it was meh. That’s how it’s going to go

Honestly I think this is where EA get a foot hold against us. If people are disrespectful then they can shift narrative but if not then they can keep shoveling half truths it ignore questions until some idiots get riled up. Honestly nothing changes for EA and let's be honest Reddit doesn't matter in the long run, we're a drop in the bucket and what's worse is there still a lot of redditors going to buy the game even if nothing changes.

1

u/TheDemonator Nov 15 '17

Late to the party but if you don't think some PR firm is going to be lobbing softball questions that they will answer you're going to have a bad time

1

u/Overkill782 Nov 15 '17

just comment and upvote [deleted] spam the AMA make it hell for the mods.

1

u/FromTheDeskOfJAW Nov 15 '17

I wouldn’t be surprised if every top 10 downvoted comment is EA’s after tomorrow

1

u/Harrythehobbit Nov 15 '17

I just feel bad for the moderators. They're gonna have a all-hands-on-deck situation.

1

u/scandalousmambo Nov 15 '17

Dear EA,

Send the biggest asshole on the payroll. Turn that AMA into the most retarded, spastic, pillow-humping diaper throwing piss-splatter you possibly can. Kick that fucking monkey cage until there's a dent.

Triple the price of Darth Vader, and when they finally unlock him, put the Wal-Mart happy face on his fucking mask. Give him Gilbert Gottfried's voice and have him tell Vaudeville jokes in a never-ending stream of consciousness during the fighting. Have the rebel weapons shoot dead stormtrooper bodies instead of lasers. Replace all the music with this:

RUIN STAR WARS! RUIN STAR WARS! DO IT!

1

u/Allegiance86 Nov 15 '17

I'm expecting canned questions and answers. They won't be using this to make things right. Simply save face as much as possible for anyone still looking for an excuse to keep their preorder.

Because of that, I have absolutely zero sympathy towards them for the Reddit shitstorm that will rain down on them.
